Personally... think they should use the name of another Southern California city! how about Azuza? Or Pasadena!?

While I think almost anything is an improvement over the Ventura and Azura, I have to say, I am not really liking thing 2 funnels. IMO it just doesn't look right on this particular design .... maybe if the funnels themselves were different, then maybe I would like them better. I usually love multiple and big funnel but these just seem off.

I would be maybe a little surprised to see this class of ship ordered for CCL. CCL never ordered a Grand or a Vista (unless you consider the spirit class a vista) for themselves and the only other lines they ever shared designs with was Costa. Princess and P&O were the only ones to share the Grand Class design (which they were going to do anyway before the merger with Carnival) and so far the Vista Class is the only class to go over more then 2 brands. At the same time, keeping in mind that this is Carnival, I wouldn't be surprised either if I was wrong here.

I guess we won't see a new 'Carnival Mardi Gras' and 'Carnival Festivale'.

One big difference betwen P & O and Princess Cruises is the high price charged for bottles of wine on Princess Cruises.

To that high price is also added a service charge.

On P & O Cruises the wines are a lot cheaper and no 15 % service charge is added !

Its not really suprising that P&O and Princess share the same ships.

I believe it was P&O that originally set up Princess for the American market. They often shared ships years before like Sea Princess/Victoria etc.

Apparantly P&O was once a big player in the cruise industry acquiring cruise lines and forming many good brands only to merge with Carnival.

That aside I am keen for more stats on this new ship. Tonnage has not told me a thing. Length and Width etc. Will it be able to transit the Panama canal when it is widened? Will P&O put a glass roof over a pool on their ship as they tend to sail to extreme climates.

This is an interesting comment. It was posted on Seatrade insider in the context of a thread about a possible new order for Costa, but it's relevant here:-

"Until we sign an agreement, we have nothing to say,’ Carnival chairman and ceo Micky Arison told Seatrade Insider. He noted the company has one ship contracted for 2014 (a sister to the 2013 Princess prototype Royal Princess) and one for 2015 (a new design for P&O)."

He seems to be drawing a distinction between the Princess pair and the P&O ship. It will be interesting to see how great the differences are.

So is there any new news yet about the statistics of these new ships like length, width and not just the initial tonnage that is useless without the other stats?

P&O have always kept their ships interiors different from Princess despite sharing the same design.

Here are some examples of

Azura interior photos

and her are some

Arcadia interior photos

As you can see both ships differ from the Princss/HAL/Cunard decors.

Not that inteirior worries me. I am more concerned about the space ratios of these ships as Azura wa a big dissapointment compared to a ship like Sapphire Princess.
