My wife certainly commented (un-asked) that Ventura looked 'big & ugly' when we saw her docked a few times during our Canary Islands cruise in her: here's an example, at Funchal.

I also recall a few people commenting on Aurora's graceful lines as she arrived at Istanbul just as we were sailing away on Solstice.

But Ventura's perceived ugliness didn't stop my wife (or me) from enjoying our cruise on her, nor from booking another one this coming May; and I'm sure that the passengers on Solstice would not have wanted to exchange their ship's cabins & facilities for Aurora's, however graceful the latter ship looked. It wouldn't surprise me if Epic turned out to provide an excellent cruise experience.

To me, Epic looks most like an inflated version of the Norwegian Star class (if you ignore the beetling brow). Although there are differences, of course - the boat positions, for example.

It's all subjective really. I think Epic is hideous from the outside. But then again I thought that the old Oriana was plug-ugly too. I didn't like the external appearance of the old Noordam and Nieuw Amsterdam twins, but loved sailing on them. Aurora may be a Vista clone but she's a delight to sail on. And then there is my beloved Norway which I adored inside and out until the two extra decks were plonked aboard by - you guessed - NCL.

i have booked a western carribean cruise on the epic in oct.,2010.
i am staying in a studio cabin on deck 12. the cruise with air from
connecticut is only $1000 for a single. the same price i paid to go
on the queen mary2 on dec.10 of 2009.
what luck.
