Finally got some pictures uploaded of the DISNEY MAGIC docked in LA when we were docking onboard the NORWEGIAN SEA. The D.M. was very elegant and looks very good in person. It drew many "oohs and ahhs" from those onboard the N. SEA as we docked.

As Onno said, great pictures!

I really like the Disney ships. They look so elegant and classic, but have all the modern day facilities we know and love.

I think the disney magic was in LA because the disney channel had a fundraiser for the make a wish foundation. They were showing some footage on the disney channel while my sister was watching it. The ship looks very nice, but when i whent on it when i as 10 or so i didnt like it very much.

It's so strange but everytimes i see pictures frome the Disney i'm amezed by the very good looks of theme. I really convinced that with some goodwill naval architect's would design more ships that boost such great looks.

Great pictures and thanks fore sharing theme with us.

Greetings Ben.

Nice sized, nice looking ships- but the Disney theme is a bit overdone. On Disney Wonder, I remember most aspects of the cruise being quite good otherwise. It gets annoying to have photographers turn you away from dinner because Mickey is signing autographs and taking pictures, I'll say that much. Alternating dining, however, is a concept I like...

Norwegian Sea photos...
Disney sisters are unusual they are a refreshment
compare to most ships of today which are seems like giant appartment blocks with square angles

I remember reading that it is for crew use. Many newbuilds have their crew pools/spas far forward. The Disney ships are in the top 4 best looking newerbuilds IMO. The others include Oriana and Aurora.

Yep, I noticed the blow-up Mickey on top of the building. There are also other "Disney" banners all over the front of the building too. I think I took a zoom-in picture of the blow-up Mickey....

Jonathan, the DISNEY MAGIC is in LA because of Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Disney Cruise Line scheduled a series of 7-nights Mexican Rivera Cruises from LA on the D.M.

Probably the nicest crew pool I have ever seen. The entire ship really looks first rate. Thanks for the pictures! It's nice the ship finally made it to the LA area, the original home and current headquarters of the Disney organization.

Wayne, thanks for the pics of DISNEY MAGIC. Like many of you have said, it is refreshing to see a 'classical' looking modern-day cruise ship.

Looks like that faux teak decking (or other shiny material) that is on many new cruise ships. Natural teak is more of a grey/tan w/no sheen (unless wet ).

You didnt happen to take a peak around the stern to notice who/what was hanging off the back of the ship, did you?

Thanks Wayne, nice pics.

I really like the bridge area of the Disney Ship, it looks a little bit "Space like" in a positive meaning. It's a good idea to connect the observatory lounge so perfectly to the bridge.

The only thing i don't like, is the ornament on the bow, it looks to overloaded.

Me too. The whole ship's lines flows so well. NCL should have used the Disney twins as an example when they added that spa addition on the N. CROWN...I found this picture of the NORWAY before her additional decks were added. Don't they share a similarity? (Passengers above the NORWAY's bridge, while the DISNEY MAGIC are windows....)

Thanks everyone for the kind words and comments!

They are amoung the nicest to look at from the outside, but personally that's were it stops. The public space design is poor, some dining rooms are too crowded and other too much open space. The buffet, you better duck if you over 6 foot tall ( i am 5'8" and felt like ducking) and the food and service for the price is poor. Before Disney builds new ships, they need to make major service and design improvement on their current ones.

Hear hear. I think the Disney Twins are wildly overrated. Why all the fuss about two funnels when they are both such ugly funnels? If the ships were painted white, they'd just look like dumpy cruise ships with horrible funnels.

Sadly this is true for most modern ships. The only thing which makes them look different is the color scheme and the funnel and maybe some decorative steel panels here and there.

I totally disagree. I will point out their differences from other newbuilds. The forcastle is longer than all other cruise ships which cost Disney quite a bit extra in building costs along w/their other special design features. They have lovely tiered aft decks and VERY interesting sterns (no boxy rears here!), the bridgefront is incredibly unique and in a way has a 1930s Art Deco look. The verandah cabin's cutout design give the appearance of classic promenades on ships of the past and yes the twin funnels are unique and fun! I would have had them completely enclosed in steel but they are what they are. I could do without the fussy filigree paint job on the bow and stern as well as the gold anchors, but they rest are two of the best looking cruise ships in the last 35 years IMO.
