The cruise was definately unreal. P&O deliver and deliver well. The ship was good, except the showrooms decor!!!!!! and the lack of a promenade was missed, but eveything was all good. I will be cruising again, next time I'll like to try out the Pacific Star, not because the Pacific Sun wasn't great, just the fact of trying out a diferent ship, just for a change of senery.

P&O Cruise, you very much remind me of myself at your age... I would recommend a trip up to the states and a cruise out of LA or Honolulu.... I think you would thoroughly enjoy it.

Great review P&OCruiser, much appreciated. I and my family, are booked to cruise on Pacific Sun February next year. Being on a family budget it would help me greatly to know some more of the costs around the ship.

Could you tell me some more of the optional cost items? Specifically :

average cost of beer, spirits, wine around the ship.

Approximate cost of wine at Dinner (bottle if you know it)

Massage / Spa treatment costs

Sorry if this is a hassle, once again I really enjoyed reading about your trip, makes me MEGA excited for ours next year !

no hassal at all i've accually been overseas in jan and i had someone email me about the exact same things as u, i wasn't able to email them cause i had very limited internet access, so wht ever i type here i can just copy and paste and send off to tht person, so no probs,

i don't drink beer, so i don't no the cost, things like jim beam and coke, vodka and coke, were around $5, blue skys were $6.50, so were pena calanas, and others were rount the $5- $7, the most expensive drink was $13.50 that i ordered, which was bout 5 different vodkas and a nip of juice, this was discusting. didn't order any wine at dinner either so cant answer, also as a family u may want to no the price of softdrink, my cruise was a schoolies so softdrink was discounted, to $1.50 for a masive cup, on normal cruise they would probly be $2.5 - $3, *guessing).

massage and treatments, were averaged cost can't remember exactly, remember a deckside massage was around $20 for 20min, but also anouncemts are anounced on a regualar basis about specials.

also about photos, don't buy any anytill the last day, i spent $15.95 each on mine and on the last day of the cruise they discount all phots to only $9.95

also optional dinner option, u can eat at the outback bar and grill for an extra $15

pizza $7 each

ice cream - $3.5 to $4.50

internet access $15 for one hour

bingo $10 per game

regarding pizza....

both Pacific Sun & Sky treat the pizza as a 'specialty restaurant' where people have to pay. On the other hand the Sapphire Princess offers a free poolside service for pizza, hotdogs, chips, hamburgers etc

Now are these restaurants big profit makers? why cant P&O include it in the cruise fare?

Because P&O can get away with it, onboard expensise are quite high on these ships aswell. They chose not to include it in the fare as there fares are rip offs already, so if they included these services there fares would rise that much that every1 would run away

when they put a pizzeria on fairstar in the late80s early 90,s the pizzas were free, but aussies being aussies they used to go in and order 10 pizzas and barely touch them, i also heard the young boozers would frisbee them around, so they started charging and all of a sudden the waste stopped

claudio i can see where your coming from and it makes sense. On the Sapphire they would serve pizza by the slice... they were huge so one was enough but you could request more.

I would have thought filling people up on pizza/hotdogs etc would be cheaper then stocking the buffet... although that said i do find it hard to comprehend the amount of food consumed/prepared on these megaliners feeding 4000? people a day!
