Well here are the first batch of photo's we recieved of the Sun in our Sydney Office. Sorry they are a bit late but i have been extremely busy as i'm sure all of you are aware of the chaos caused associated with the delays to this ship and now ofcourse to Pacific Sky, as they say it never rains it pours!
I started uploading the pictures to cruisepage the other night but it was taking to long and it only held 15 per album so i have put them all together on webshots. It shows her in drydock, and sailing downunder, there is an inside shot as well!
She looks rather good, let me know what you all think. Enjoy!

However the small pipe looks a bit too small compared to the rest of the ship, maybe it would have been nice if they added some form of shields to the sides of the funnel like was don when Crown Princess become A’Rosa Blu.

I totally agree with you, much better than the 'Carnival', flashy interior it had before... i wonder if the whole ship has been stripped of its neon style interior

If you look at the back of the funnel you will see it is missing some plating running vertically from the base of the funnel to the top... I wonder if they are going to add a section to the back of the funnel to give it a wider apperance- rather than the slender pipe it looks like now? I wasn't convinced that Carnival had to remove the wings, but having done so I hope the do something more to the funnel. It just does not look right as it is... too small for the proportions of the ship.
Upon zooming in on the pic i noticed the back of the funnel you were refering to - good observation you have!

No, the openings that people are referring to are ventilation openings on the entire back-side length of the funnel. As mentioned earlier, they are also on many of the other Carnival ships. Normally you wouldn't notice it so much, but since P&O chopped off the top of the funnel with the wings the open grate-work becomes much more apparent.
An entirely new funnel would have been great, but I guess that was cost prohibitive.
I'm anxious to see more interior shots and I wonder if more of the interior was modified then what is listed on the PACIFIC SUN deck plan? For now, the deck plan is exactly like JUBILEE's was right down to the lounge names.
A lot can be done with these older Carnival ships, as evidenced by TROPICALE/COSTA TROPICALE.

i'm keen to see interior photos aswell......i believe that all the interiors were stripped and refitted...the deckplans have stayed the same as its a good layout, but the jubilees interiors woulnd't have gone down too well,,,,they would have had to be toned down,,,,like the lobby................\

All i can say is that foyer looks a million times better than the old carnival one. I can't beleive its even the same space. I hope the rest of the interiors have been so masterfully re-decorated.

Old Interiors
Its called "The Atrium" not that it really is one! They have transformed that tacky thing into quite a classy chic area. Very nice P&O Aus, and thanx P&O for posting them all, must be exciting for you working there and taking delivery of a new ship!
I must say the outside of the ship looks quite impressive to, the Australian Livery certainly improves the look of the ship and so to does the thing they added at the stern. Still dont like the slopy windows that are part of the show lounge though, they spoil the lines of the ship.
Will be interesting to see the rest of the ship. I think the funnel looks infinately better now, even if it is a bit small, getting rid of those wings raised the whole tone of the ship. I must say on first impressions, im what can i say "impressed".
Attached is a pic of CELEBRATION's new lobby. As you can see, it's very similar to PACIFIC SUN right down to the ceiling, floor, and pillar treatments. I would imagine we can expect much of PACIFIC SUN to look like CELEBRATION if we go by this first picture.
