Due to easterly winds the River Ems transfer of the Jewel of the Seas is postponed 24 hours.

Working fine here. here's the latest schedule:-
"Papenburg, April 2, 2004 ? ?Jewel of the Seas,? the new 90,090 gt cruise liner for Royal Caribbean International (RCI), will leave Meyer Werft for the North Sea on the night of 3rd April 2004. The postponed passage of the vessel down the River Ems will take place in one go with no stop on the way, supported by operation of the Ems river barrier.

Still the passage of the vessel is dependent on the tides. The following postponed schedule is valid for the transit, which may vary in accordance with the weather conditions:

Sunday, 3rd April 2004
abt. 02.00 h Passage of harbour lock (Papenburg)
abt. 04.35 h Passage of ?Friesenbrücke? (Weener)
abt. 07.30 h Passage of ?J.-Berghaus-Brücke? (Leer)
abt. 13.00 h Passage of Ems river barrier (Gandersum)
abt. 14.55 h Passage of Emden
abt. 18.00 h Arrival at Eemshaven

The schedule is subject to wind and weather conditions and hence without engagement. Postponements may occur.

The ship leaving the pier in Papenburg and passing through the harbour lock will be presented live on the Internet. The web cam can be found on the Meyer Werft homepage: www.meyerwerft.de

They mean the night of 3rd April going into Sunday 4th.. they should have changed it.
Rob from the site:- "The new luxury liner will leave Papenburg almost completed and will undertake final seatrials in the North Sea. The ship will be delivered to the owners Royal Caribbean International in the Dutch port of Eemshaven by the end of April 2004."

Yes there seems to be something different with the site, the web cam picture is back to march 22, 2004 and I get and error message at the top.
The rest of it seems OK.

again delayed. the other year the dawn was out of ems i went all the wayu there to thew bartrier stood on poring rain ansd wind broke my umbrekla and saw nothing. never again

Jewel of the Seas will be delivered in April (mid?) and will go to Hamburg where she is expected 23.04. or (other source) 25.04.04.

The some short one and two night trips from Hamburg to the North Sea and to Olso.

The ship is booked for Northern Europe in 2005 again.

It was a nice sailing although we had steady winds of 40 kts with gusts up to 60 kts!

Brush up your German! As you can imagine, the transfer of the Jewelcaused a lot of press interest and comment. If you can persevere with the translation tool, there are some interesting nuggets in here, plus a few photos of varying qualities. The best nugget is at the end. Most links run through tinyurl.com. I've tried to keep out duplications, and all these translations of titles are very approximate!

It was certainly a fun evening's entertainment! My only regret is that I don't know how to hack the video to save it onto my computer - anyone know?

That bridge that she was squeezing through wasn't the tightest fit. That honour goes to the Jann Berghaus bridge at Leer - the one where the bridge flips up to the vertical - where there's less than 2 metres on either side, apparently. But there don't seem to be any pictures that really show that.

It was too dark and besides it was raining, so no good pics from the passing this time.

Thanks..thought it amusing in the middle link that the tags say 'Liberia Registered' when it quite cleary says Nassau on the stern.
