Funny.... I think I would enjoy a ST themed cruise, but I agree the conventions are filled with such goofy people. I would never be caught dead wearing a Star Trek uniform. I'm not a trekkie, but I am a trekker...you probably know the difference.
The cheesy sets and stories were all part of show's charm! I loved it. Mr. Gizmo and I would sit and laugh at those cheesy sets. Some were just not cheesy but really bad.

There was another "movie" that was a big hit in England where some travellers explored the galaxy and it was the same kind of slightly "off" humor as Dr. Who and Monty Python...something about "guide to the Galaxy"? Anyone know what I'm thinking about?
It featured a great set of characters including Zaphod Beeblebrox (inventor of the most potent cocktail known to exist, the Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster).
It was mostly about trying to answer the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.Eventually they came up with the answer: Forty-two.
I did watch the video one time to see what all the fuss was about...it wasn't my kind of movie.
By the way...Jamaica Jeff...you're a little off topic, but what a cool idea to have a trampoline on a cruise ship...right near the railing (with a net of course).
