Well...not exaclty my first cruise but I thought of posting this here as this will be my first cruise in the Caribbean during August.
We are thinking of booking on RCCL from 15 to 22 August and I was concerned a bit about the possibility of storms.
I spent quite a bit of time looking for information on the web but thought of asking your expert advice. My thinking is that mid August should not generally be as bad as end of August or September.
So, would you book such a cruise?
Any other advise?
What happens to the itinerary if there is a storm on the way?
Thanks

I did a couple of years ago and had no problems apart from it being rather hot. As the guys above have said, it's a matter of luck. However they rarely cancel cruises because of hurricanes, they just alter the ports of call. This doe not matter too much as all the Caribbean ports look the same.

I have already cruised twice in the Caribbean in May and late November and it was wonderful.
However this time my holidays will be in August (as the rest 99.9% of Cypriots!!!) so I do not have too much choice.
In Cyprus, the majority of businesses close down for two weeks in August and staff need to take these weeks off.
Originally, when the system was established in the 1980s, the idea was to have holidays when it is too hot to work, however statistically, July is now the hottest month hence IMO this system is no longer working properly. Additionally, everyone now is using a/c hence there is no too much dependency on the temperature apart from the construction indusry.
As you can tell from the above, high temperatures are not really a problem but I was moslty concerned about huriccanes etc.
