Just booked a short spring trip on Navigator of the Seas from Barcelona, 4 nights, 28 May, done my own flights from Heathrow with BA plus done my own hotel the night before in the Travelodge on Barcelona, all in for £700, pleased with that!

But a coupel of questions, I presume there will be plenty fo taxis available outside the airport to get us to our hotel, plus also in the morning from hotel to port, but just wondered if there are any hints and tips that you might be able to give us to enjoy the trip even more! :-)

Also, what is boarding in Barcelona etc etc like, we have been told we can expect to be off the ship on our return by about 8am, so have booked an 11am flight home, does all that sound feasible etc etc?

Also, what can we expect with Navigator from Barcelona, eclectic mix of passengers etc?

Any info or hints and tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, James.

Taxi's are plentiful and the trip from the airport to the port is not excessively expensive. When I saied RCI from Barcelona, Spanish, Italian and Brits were the main composition of the passengers.

One tip - if you have booked via RCI's web site and have not made your final full payment yet then regularly track the price by making 'dummy' bookings and if the price goes down you can call RCI and ask for the new rate.

I have a Panama Canal trip booked on Serenade OTS for 18 April 09. The original price for an E1 balcony was £1306 pp - the last price drop made last week brought my price down (after 2 previous adjustments) to £913 pp - a 30% saving!!! If you are over 55 they often have a special rate - you have to search for it specifically online. Good luck and hope you enjoy your break.

Normally i m on the Not S from 9 may till 14 May from Barcelona.
We leave a day earlier and have booked a very old hotel in the Ramblas area (Stendhal slept there, and i hope it has gone on since then, but probably not).
At what time do you plan to check in on the ship ?

Arriving, our plane only leaves in the evening, so we have almost a complete ay to explore the city.

We did in Oslo the "self checkout" walking out with our luggage from the quay to the station, but it would be nice to know if there is any kind of motorised transport, (port buses, taxis?) if we ourselves would leave among the first from the ship.

Thanks for the replies guys appreciate that, so it sounds as though the best option as we have an 11am flight would be to do the 'self check out' with our own luggage, its on my wife and myself, so we can easily be up and off the ship by about 8am, then a taxi to the airport and job done!

I have been keeping an eye on teh price and it seems static at the moment, and I wnet through an agent as they were giving away nearly all of the 10% commision they work with!! So made it more affordable.

Not yet 55, although some of the deals you see it sometimes make me wish I was!!!

Must admit, a few days away with just the wife and no kids, sounds liek bliss, to me and a few days in the Med on a decent ship sounds superb!

Cant wait!!!

Will do a review on our return.

Many thanks, James.

That interesting. That's not the normal practice for Cruises purchased in the UK. Normally it's a case of "bad luck, you get the price you saw when you paid the deposit"!

I know, can't believe the luck .... we've also saved £600 on a cruise booked with Azamara next January. However, I have just noticed a disclaimer on RCI.co.uk stating that the online rates were for 'new reservations' only - so maybe they're tightening up. But some of the recent savings online have been large enough to cancel, lose the £200 deposit and rebook and still save money.
