Its been 7 years since my last cruise (QE2) and now a work freind of mine is going with 3 other family members for a P&O South pacific cruise in 3 weeks.

So they came to me for advise and tips on what to pack and what to do.

As im so rusty now ,i could only think of a few things to help them out.I was wondering did anyone on here ever do a lisiting on what to do and not to do and general tips ect.
Ive already mention as in dont overpack ,put hair shampoo into small bottles ect.

I know i should know all these tips but help! ive forgotten as its been so long!.

Many thanks for any feedback.......

It may have been done here before, but it would be a gread idea to have such a list of suggestions readily available on this board. A couple of things I have grown to appreciate are a package or container of sanitary wet wipes to use in the cabin and a small compact travel clock with alarm since most cabins have no clocks and I am constantly checking the time and prefer to depend on my own alarm if needed. You more experienced cruisers surely have some other recommendations that I have never thought of and I would love to hear them.

Go online and do all the registation stuff. Go over the shore excursions and book online. Tickets will be in your cabin on arrival-no waiting in line hoping you get what you want.
Check to see if the ship has self service laundries.hence you can pack lighter and do your laundry on a at sea day.(especially on 10 day+ cruises.
Ships laundries tend to be expensive vs self service.
An expandable bag is nice to have-most ships sell theirs with logos-good for the extra goodies you purchase.
If you can't make up your mind on a dinner item order both they don't mind.
If your on a limited budget and are a soft drink addict and don't feel like paying $1.75/can +15% grat. (I see now they are going to the small cans)seek out a store ashore to buy-there is a liquer store right outside of the Mall in St. Thomas. @ about $3.00/six pack this beats out the price on the ship.

Just a few items,I'm sure others can add on the list. Knowing all these things ahead of time makes for a Very smooth cruise. Even thougn your a Rookie you'll fel like a Pro.

1) Do read your 'daily news' sheet carefully everyday.

2) Do check your onboard account during the cruise and not just at the end.

3) Don't waste money on expensive excursions if you can just get of the ship and easily do your own thing (if practical and safe to do so).

4) Do check out the evening entertainment rather than decide that you don't like it before you have even seen it.
