Do anyone know if any cruise other than Carnival that offers a clothing optional sunning deck? Are there any cruise lines that offer adults only cruises?

P&O, Saga offer adult only ships. Hapag Lloyd`s Europa has dedicated open deck space for nudism.

I think McCormack built their now departed Argentina/Brasil pair with a purpose deck for "Au Naturel" activities.
HAL removed the deck, hidden in the funnel, but with observation wings, like a large version version of ssFrance winged funnels.
The funnel area or top of the bridge on ships tend to have a partial AN sunbathing for crew.
I hear that some of the earlier Silversea upper balconies are known for premium "Au Naturel"!

Topless sunbathing (for women and men) is common place in ships operating in Europe. I recall Matts saying that even RCI have a clothing optional deck space while cruising in Europe.

The nude sun decks on Argentina and Brasil were removed in the early 1960s when the new top decks/funnel were installed by Moore-Mac.

Does anyone have EXTERIOR shots of the ship with these "wings"? I have only seen pictures of this pair with the new decks and dummy funnel...

There may be a pic in Bill Miller's book on American Passenger ships-a Dover pubication I believe. The wings were actually covered decks that projected out on either side of the funnel. They were not located high on the stack as France's exhaust wings were and the Moore-Mac twins version resembled covered bridge wings. The divided nude sunbathing decks were located in the original dummy funnel-men on one side and women on the other.

Thanks folks for your input. Yes, every Carnival ship has a separate area for "clothing optional" sunning. On the Imagination, it is the Veranda deck. I book it for a Feb. cruise, we will see how it is.

Not a photo, but this drawing is from the Announcement brochure for ARGENTINA & BRASIL, produced in 1957. Moore McCormack referred to the solarium area as the "Fun-Stack"

Thanks for the scan Rich. Pity that that dummy funnel did not survive that refit/overhaul....It would have been nice to see that thing last until these twins got scrapped...

It sure is a fun-stack alright

The artist rendering left out the divider that ran along the centerline. It divided the sexes and each had their own entrance.

So does this all mean that 'topless' bathing is accepted on Med cruises, we are travelling on LOTS this summer and if she can go topless I know that she will be pleased with that, doesnt like the strap lines or something!!!

Personally I am not bothered, but I can see why some people would find a public deck full of topless or AU bathers offensive but if there is facilities for trhis on LOTS then please do let me know.

Many thanks.

Thanks Ben!
I knew there were "civilised" forms of cruising!
I did try a "thong" underwear on mvMelody but Italian crew cried Wolf even when I was surrounded by men on the port side crew deck near the funnel!
I became a werewolf at night but that is OT
