Hi Fellow Cruisers.
Am hoping to be able to firm up some plans to take a Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan towards the later part of this year. From reading various newgroup cruise posting it seems that getting to and from the San Juan Airport to the cruise skips can be a experience in itself. Would like to here any hints/suggestions that would make the getting to and from the airport and the cruise ship a more bearable experience. Looking to take either a RCL or Princess cruise all though havn't ruled out and of the other cruise lines. These two seemed to offer the intinary I am looking for.
Thanks

I really don't see what the problem would be. Just take a cab. When we sailed out of San Juan, we were a group of 8, and as our TA was with us, she had booked a van, but I saw a lot of people just grabbing a cab to the port from the airport and the same going from the port to the airport.

What do you mean by "an experience in itself". I am confused.

I must say, though, that the San Juan airport is the worst I have ever been in. Only one cafeteria type restaurant where the food was dreadful - a McDonalds was being built and no doubt is open now as our trip was a few years ago.

We've never joined a cruise in San Juan but seems to me the Line you're cruising with would have the answers you're looking for. It's one of my favourite ports from which to sail.

I'd establish exactly where/when my ship was leaving and grab a cab from the airport. Can't understand your problem.

The airport there is extreamly grose and this is coming from a 14 year old. We took a bus with other people going to our ship so it was easy to do. The port isnt very nice but i duno its a personal opinion.

Only cruised 4 times, but entire embarkation from airport to ship on Golden Princess was only about an hour. I thought this was the smoothest I had been through compared to other 3 lines. I simply used Princess transfers & took their bus to ship... no problems at all. About 1/2 of the airport is new (I was there in 10/04) so not sure what all the complaints are with it... did not spend a lot of time there to begin with. Long lines at the airport on departure were largest problem and I have been through much worse.
