Hi folks - we are doing the Xmas/New Year Caribbean Cruise in Dec 2005. I know it is early but if anyone has cruised on Oceana I would welcome their comments.

Hello,
Also booked on Oceana Xmas 2005.Early booking is must for this cruise to get the best price, you dont see any late deals for this cruise as it takes in both Xmas and the New Year.
We were on Oceana last Xmas, similar ports but more sea days than Xmas 2005.
Oceana was full, plenty of children,no bother.Sea days are a slight problem if you like to sunbathe as beds become full very soon.Food was good, entertainment was the usual P.O.Some good, some indifferent. If you have sailed Aurora or Oriana,Oceana is differnet but still a fine ship and provided us with an excellent cruise.
Anything else I can help you with please ask and maybe I will be able to help you.
Seems a long way off,but this Xmas is only 5 months off. This Xmas we will be sailing aboard Brilliance of the Seas from Miami to the Panama canal.
Regards,
Iain.

Hello ! We did Oceana inaugeral cruise in Nov 02 ex Ft Lauderdale, only downside we heard was about cramped charter flights from UK. We live in Georgia so drove down. Afew minor dislikes such as complete refusal of Pursers desk to change $100 bill???? but no probs with same at Casino cashiers window! Food was great and plentiful, excelent friendly service in all areas. We tended to frequent The Terrace bar,aft on Sun Deck and had no problem getting a sun bed. We are booked again for Jan 7th this time from Barbados, and hope to get same cabin stwd Senim,Waiter Clifford and Bartender Geoff in Yacht & Compass. Bon Voyage Y'all.

Hi!

Sorry I'm writing a little late...

I've been on P&O's Oceana when it was formally known as Ocean Princess. The Ocean Princess was very beautiful and my Mom and I cruised on it March, 2002 on a 10-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. Food was awesome, and the crew were very polite. The shows in the theater were VERY excellent. Even though the ship has a new name, it's almost certain it didn't change a lot because P&O is the parent company for Princess.

Hope you have fun!

Samantha

Just got back from a 2 week Mediterranean cruise on P&O/Oceana.
If you want a Butlin's holiday camp atmosphere ("It's Time For Fun Day in The Sun, everybody!"), and to be relieved of your money by paying London pub prices at the bar, buying junk in the shops and jumble sales, buying almost daily photographs (to remember the moment) at £6-20 each, shore excursions at £50-£60 a head, and more, then this is for you.
And don't forget that passengers' tips to the waiters and stewards at the end of the cruise make up 50% of their salary... immoral.

The food was good and plentiful though. As evidenced by the 1000 or so clinically obese (ie., huge, fat, blobby) people who made up half the passengers. Most of the rest were old (well over 60) and/or in wheelchairs.

You will gather that I won't be using P&O again!

Nobby.

That's an interesting view, N0bby.

Would you care to tell us just how was this cruise different from all the other big ship cruises you've been on?

I have been on her Princess sisters Dawn (2) and Sun and they are amoung my favorate modern era ships. Deck space is plentiful, Horizon Court ( I am not sure what P & O calls it ) in the front of the ship is great. Gym is very spacious for this size ship and the balancy and even inside stateroom have lots of storage and are well layed out. Lots of out of the way places to escape and relax during the day and enjoy with friends at night.

I recieved the 2005 P&O brochure and it Oceana looks just as nice, a but more formal than her Princess sisters. I think you will enjoy the ship and the trip. Have fun!

I think I'm right in saying that on Oceana its called 'The Plaza' and on Adonia the 'Pavillion'.

I GOT OFF Oceana yesterday. I found her completely and utterly unexceptional. Decor is bland, the use of Plaza as a caff and not an observation lounbge is criminal, the "Art" auctions are horribly intrusive with hideous paintings propped up everywhere and - unless you are on First Sitting and leave dinner by 7.30 - there is simply not enough space in the Public Rooms to find a seat. If you want a quiet drink, forget it. Your choices are the Yacht and Compass (blaring band) the Atrium (blaring band) the Casino (noisy slots and plasma tvs) or the sophisticated champagne bar Magnum's, filled every night with noise from the adjacent disco.

On the bright side, the cabins are fine, the restaurants pretty and the food excellent.
