That should be interesting - it is after all QM2's first real 'Crossing'

Too bad we'll probably not see it in Canada.

Aren't the BBC Holiday programs not broadcast on BBC World Service ?
An interview would be nice.

Glad I can receive BBC1 here, thanks for the tip.
From BBC's website:

7:00 pm
Holiday 2004
Craig Doyle reports on the QM2's maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, Riz Lateef is in Croatia, the Tecce family look for property in France's Ardeche region, and the Flemings visit Bangkok.

Yes, Auntie is aboard.. have been in a few shots.. namely buying books in the library.. if you see someone on left of shot signing a receipt in library with black jacket on, hair blown by wind could be me.
WHAT A SHIP! Like Malcolm said, Britiannia is great, not even thought about going elsewhere. Food is great & service swift... out within an hour if wanted. Cannot praise hgihly enough, though there are few things that go wrong.
F10, very rough seas, high winds, decks out of bounds unless you're like me and many others \\
Lots of crockery gone flying, and some of the large plants up ended and cracked pots. plates slid off tables etc.. all good fun. Even slide down my bed the other night
More on retunr... very hard to take photos, probably all blurred I suspect...\
no swimming.. good job kids got a chance before sailaway in Soton.
Maxtone0graham doing a great series of lectures. Simon schama and others in superb Oxford Discovery programme.. could stay here forever me thinks listening to this lot.
Shows OK, cancelled last night due to weather. Planetarium is fun to watch.. no doubt Malcolm has informed you all.
Off now for another lecture..
Pam

Pam:

Glad to see you're having a great time. Hopefully not all of the plates will be broken, since I board this Sunday.

Have you had any experience with the in-cabin e-mail? Earlier people weren't able to hit reply to respond to e-mails from the ship. I'm wondering if they have fixed that problem yet, since it's so cumbersome to type in the long e-mail address Cunard has sent.

Enjoy the rest of your crossing.

No only used the cyber centre nathan. She's having a roughish time, some glass panels on the wind breaks broken. fire hydrant leaking outside pavilion pool door and therefore solarium area is awash with water at prsent. Shrouded in mist, awaiting the ice berg -p just been out to take a photo of half the funnel visible in mist, but way too windy and had to hang on for my life, can't see much out there. Loving it
I will ask if anyone has tried the cabin email.. maybe I will later

Be very interesting to see just how much of the bad weather & it's consequences the BBC show in the holiday programme !! They always seem to show good weather & sunshine in most of their reports!!
Thanks for posting that Pam, glad you are having a "trip to remember" sounds just like the roaring forties!

Pam, I've got 'goose bumps' reading your posts - reminds me of a couple of crossings I did 'way back when on much smaller ships.......such fun!

You'll 'feel' the icebergs before you see them - temp. really falls quickly.

Enjoy!

The cabion E-mail worked well last week and was really easy to use. The cost $1,50 to read or send an E-mail - no per minute charge.

Thanks Pam and Malcolm. My mother wants to send me an e-mail next week, and she's not the most computer-literate (but she tries ). It would be much easier for her if she could just hit "reply," but I read on earlier voyages they were having trouble with people hitting reply.

I'm so glad that you're having a wonderful time Pam.

I would just love to read your comparison between Black Prince and QM2!

Did I hear your name announced on the QM2 on the final morning? Did you forget to pay your account or something?

I think her kids need to be at School on Monday 26th April, so she probably gets home Sunday (today) at the latest?

I have loaded a few .avi files for those who can watch:-

Waves through windows on deck 3 - 5.9mb

More waves through windows on Deck 2 - 2.2mb

Going down in the port 'scenic lift' in the mist and heavy seas - 2.1mb

Solarium Pool sloshing about - 2.2mb

Yes, it was rough, F10 storm & the sea state went up to 7 [high], not sure what that is in ft/m? & gusts of up to 70kts across the bridge. It was actually the roughest the 2nd night out, many people didn't sleep and I awoke at one point finding myself sliding down the bed

Couple of pics from the windows by Illuminations on deck 3

The 2 photos were taken seconds apart, so you can see the difference in the height of the waves.

Pam
