Is anyone sailing on this trip ?
The cabin was very nicely appointed (rm 1143) and kept very clean. Every day the crew was scrubbing something. One day they were no their hands and knees scrubbing the steps. The ship in general was beautiful and extremely tastefully decorated. We never made it to Belize or Coca Cay, but instead went to Costa Maya and Nassau for 2 days. Costa Maya was beautiful with unspoiled beaches and several shops. As for not going to Coca Cay, we had a better time spending 2 days in Nassau.
Here are some tips for you...#1 Use the steps, especially when you are coming back from a shore visit. The crew sends everyone to one bank of elevators when you re-board the ship. We waited for 15 minutes for an elevator one day and even had some rude lady grab our stroller and push us out of the way to get an elevator. So, walk up one flight of steps to the 4th floor, then walk down the hall about 50 yards and get a different set of elevators. #2 HOLD onto something when the ship begins to move. The propellers vibrate the entire ship for about 10 minutes, then it’s smooth sailing. #3 When disembarking back @ home, be very patient!! You are asked to be out of your cabin by 8:30 and to meet in a predetermined area. They hand out colored tags a few nights before getting home and you are instructed to be in a specific area of the ship if you have that color. Anyhow, the disembarkation took about 2 hours. Bring a book and make yourself comfortable!!!!!
Well, I hope that you have a wonderful cruise, we did!!! Oh, if you get Mile’ and Glen as your waiter and assistant waiter, tell them Madeline (the 2 year old redhead from 3 weeks ago) said “hi” and she missed them.
If I can help you with anything else just let me know. Have a great trip!!!!
To answer your question about the vibrations...yes. The first time that I heard and felt it was @ dinner when we left Baltimore Harbor. The dinning room is in the back of the ship and for about ten minutes it shuttered like crazy, but after that it was smooth sailing. We asked our waiter (Mile') about it and he said that they are so used to it that they don't even feel it. On the other hand, there was not a night that I was vibrated out of bed. The only time that you feel it is when the ship is pulling out of a port or pulling up to a dock. Other than that it was one smooth ride!!!! Let's put it this way...it didn't wake up my 2 year old. And like Mile' said, "you get used to it".
Are you sailing out of Baltimore?
It only happens occasinally, in certain sea conditions, and not necessarily very rough ones? Maybe it is a design floor of Mercury and Galaxy? DO zenith and Centuary suffer from this?
The stern is a very silly place to put a dining room anyway. That's why Ocean Liners always had them midships. I suppose you do get a good view of the sea and the setting sun, while eating.
Great name for a newbuild: 'Celebrity Judder'
