Any ideas about what to do in Fort Lauderdale on a Sunday?

I'll be disembarking from Millennium in the morning, but the flight back to Blighty isn't until the evening.

Also, anyone know whether we can stash our cases somewhere instead of having to cart them around with us all day?

Does the cruise line offer post cruise tours? A coworker of mine took an airboat tour of the Everglades and really enjoyed it.

You might be able to check your luggage in at the pier if your air arrangements were made through the cruise line. Alternatively, and you'll need to re-confirm, FLL used to offer lockers in which you could store luggage. OR, since it's still off season, you can probably rent a car for about $29 for the day. Takes care of your luggage and transportation problems!

I'd suggest a nice brunch on Las Olas or out on A1A at the beach. Las Olas is great as there is lots of shopping and a wide variety of retsaurants. And A1A, the area known as "Beach Place" has lots of greeat small reastaurants. I'd suggest St Barts Coffee Company for a light brunch or lunch meal. Great people watching, and a nice stroll and scenery.

While the airboat tour is nice and it's fun, it's only about two hours when you factor in the drive time to and from the airboats plus an hour long tour.

However, all of the above are great options, especially to the"Cathedral of the Damned" which is considered radically cult like and toboo amongst the locals here.

Feel free to ask any more questions as I live right in the heart of Lauderdale.

Cheers SoBe Tim. I looked on FLL's website and can't see a mention of left-luggage lockers. Maybe, as in the UK, 9-11 put paid to them.

We're flying BA not arranged with Celebrity, so might be able to check in first thing and then disappear for the day -- I like the sound of St Bart's.

As for "Cathedral of the Damned", isn't that a code word for the onboard casino???

ALSO we arrive in FLL the day before we sail -- not sure what hotel yet, but can you recommend a good steak place for dinner? I'm thinking like a Ruth's Chris or similar...

"Left Luggage at FLL is open from 8 'til 4pm in Terminal 2. It's $3-5/bag (depending on size) fpr 24hrs. (954) 359-1200."
Is what someone sent me last Dec.. perhaps a local could verify if it's still valid?
LHR & LGW have have left luggage places in all terminals.

Sread,

I'd reccomend Jackson's Staeakshouse on Las Olas, it's quite pricey though! You may also want to consider Chuck's Steakhouse on SE 17th Street, it's a good, solid steakhouse. Another consideration and one of my favorites is Houston's on US1, Federal Highway. Unless you have a car, it may be a bit of a trek as it's about 10 minutes north of the port. Last, but not least, Shula's on the Beach. Shula's is a Florida institution and serves great steaks, if a bit over priced. But, very good indeed!

Let me know if you need any other assistance/advice/reccomendations.

Best,

Tim

PS--when are you sailing?

Arriving in FLL on Saturday Nov 22, hitting the ocean the next day and returning on Sunday Nov 30.

Er, am I losing my marbles? I'm sure Barryboat and Desirod7 also sent me a couple of ideas, but they've disappeared ...

Steve, we had a software glitch over the weekend and some posts were lost, including those. As I recall one was a list of gay-oriented bars in the area and the other was a link to a church service. I can try to find a copy of the posts from the backup if you wish.

Which post(s) were you interested in?

Sawgrass Mill is too far away and unless you have a car, there is not way to get there. Also it is so huge you might get lost.

My recommendation was a visit Sunday morning to Dr. Kennedy's church called Coral Ridge Church. His church is a tourist attraction because of the architecture of the building, but also Dr. James Kennedy is an excellent speaker and scholar on current events and religion. Dr. Kennedy is also on Television every sunday...the services are recorded. He has a nationally broadcasted radio program too. Not much to do on a Sunday morning in Ft. Lauderdale so this is an option.
