Has anyone cruised fro Harwich, UK?

What is the cruise terminal like, is it anything special? Can visitors wave you off?

That's a nice 'olde' site Green.

Malcolm, it's all changed since I last went there, lots of new buildings in '98/99? They have a website but as to whether anyone can see you off, I don't know.

Green my speakers were on full volume and fumbling to turn down the seagulls I got the foghorn full blast! Ouch. But yes, it's good, nice touch.

Malcolm,we sailed from Harwich in June of last year(2001)aboard Legend of the Seas.We drove to the dockside and arrived at approx; 1230P.M.Parking was included in our package.We unloaded our cases from the car and these were loaded onto a luggage train similar to those you see at airports.You could then walk through the car park and round to the terminal or wait for a small minibus to take you round.The walk is only 5mins.As i remember the terminal building was quite small,nothing spectecular but perfectly acceptable.We were boarded with the minimum of fuss and eating lunch by 1.30P.M.It seemed to us that plenty of people were already on board so boarding seemed to have commenced quite early compared to some cruises we have been on.On disembarkation day we had a relatively long car journey but we were able to just walk straight off and though custums with the minimum of fuss and on our way by 7.45A.M.Luggage was already waiting in the car park.

Looking forward to sailing from Harwich to New York in August aboard Rotterdam. Is it closer to London than Dover?

Its about the same distance, 1.5 to 2 hours, maybe?

Harwich has a nice little old town that few cruise passengers ever get to see.

One of the giant Stena HSS Fast Ferries opperates from Harwich to the Hook of Holand, you may get to see it?
