We are tentatively booked to sail on the Pacific Princess from NY to Bermuda on September 30th. Can anyone provide details about the weather at that time of year? Sea conditions? Whatever details you have would be appreciated. Thanks.

We are on the same sailing. We have been to bermuda about 11 times at this time of year and never had anything but good weather.

We were on Pacific last year and can honestly say that this was the best cruise we have ever had.

You lucky people - We love Bermuda in September/October and never had a problem with weather.

We'd enjoy being on board but are booked to sail Sept. 29th on the Zaandam through the Panama Canal to Ft. Lauderdale.

Don't forget to have a Bermuda Swizzle!

Happy cruisin!

We sailed New York to Bermuda on R.C.I.s Song of America shortly before it was transferred to Airtours. The cruise was in early September and news reached us of an hurricane brewing whilst we were in Bermuda. The Captain,a Scandanvian had been very visible on deck up untill this point. But a source of amusement to all passengers was his toupee which considering he lived in America was of a very poor standard and was a constant talking point amongst the passengers. He decided along with other ships in Bermuda at the time that it would be better to leave Bermuda a day early and get ahead of the main storm. It did get quite windy on deck and needless to say nothing was seen of the Captain on the open decks.Everybody thought he was concerned he might lose his wig over the side in the high winds. We spent the last day of the cruise sailing up and down the shores of Long Island to kill the time untill we were due to dock in New York.

Have been to Bermuda twice on the QE2 in early September, and both times it was sunny and very hot (upper 80's). Regardless, Bermuda was wonderful; just be prepared for the sun if you venture on the beaches (try Horseshoe Bay). Once we departed New York late to avoid a hurricane coming up the US East coast, and ended up catching the tail end of the hurricane. We really did some rocking and rolling, but made it to Bermuda on schedule. However, one other ship (unknown now) heading for Bermuda had to turn back, and another cruiseship (also name forgotten) sustained such damage that once it made it to Bermuda, they had to remain in port for longer than planned. Oh, to be "stranded" on Bermuda for longer than planned...heaven!

We went to Bermuda last September on NCL Majesty out of Boston and even though we passed through the remnants of one hurricane on the way there and pulled out of Bermuda 6 hours early to avoid another one, it was the best trip. The weather is fabulous and Bermuda is so wonderful. We liked it so much that we are going again this year in October.

Darlene, I am posting a reply to your private message to me about Bermuda. There doesnt seem to be another way.
You asked about sea conditions.
There is always some motion on the Bermuda trip. No more so than elsewhere however.
There are usually just a few who are affected by motion sickness unfortunately.
This occurs to some regardless of sea conditions.

Early October is glorious in Bermuda with the chance of a hurricane rare at that time. If you like beaches, Horseshoe Bay can be crowded but Shelly Bay on the north shore is a good alternative easily accessible by bus from Hamilton or St. George. Have a great time.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and provided info. We just received our preliminary info from Princess on the shore excursions, etc. and have also done some of my own research on the Internet. By the way, Bermuda has a great web site! Topgun, if you get a chance, give us a call when on board and maybe we can get together and share cruise stories while having a Bermuda swizzle or two!

Thanks again, everyone.

Darlene - Like everyone says, you'll love Bermuda.

If it's a nice beach you're after try John Smiths Bay - rent a bike - they'll givre you a map and point you in the right direction. Horseshoe Bay is beautiful but very crowded.

For a spectular view of the Island, visit Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.

Cruise excursions are pricey -much cheaper and more fun to buy a day pass on Bermuda's Pink busses (think they still have them) - you can ride all over the Island and get off and on as you please.

Leave yourselves ample time to get back to the ship
