Why I entered West Carib on my last message is a mystery to me. East Carib is where we are going. Nassau, San Juan, St. Thomas/St. John. I am interested in where to snorkel and where to go to out of the way, quiet beaches.

In Nassau try the wonderful blue lagoon island with a fantastic sea.If Carnival doesn't offer this excursion go to the moundain Paradise Island where you can alternate the relax on the beach with a play at the casino of the Atlantis Hotel. In St.Thomas go with a taxi to the Magens'Bay where the sea has the colour of a blue sapphire. In St.John the best beach is Trunk Bay if I remember well. This island is a natural reserve so the sea is at the best.In San Juan I don't know particularly beaches because the cruise ships arrive in port at least in the mid afternoon.Have a wonderful Cruise!

Not sure if this is the quiet beach your looking for, In St John's we took NCL's St John's sailing tour. This catamarran took a group of 36 to Honeymoon Bay for snorkling. We anchored just off shore, so after snorkling for a time, we swam to the beach and played around in the surf for awhile. Our group was the only one's in this bay, so it was great. The catamarran then set sail for St Thomas, where we met up with our cruise ship. This was a very memorible day for my wife and I.

Nassau - haven't been to blue lagoon so I can't say. I would suggest just going to Paradise Island and spending a regular day at the beach.

St. Thomas - On St. Thomas - best snorkeling and scuba is at Coki Beach (Coral World is loacated here), Saphire Beach next door is ok as well. For regular beach - try Magens Bay.
Morningstar is very rocky (was there 2 weeks ago and can't recommend it.) The best coral reef off Buck Island, but you need to take a tour there, or a boat. This is where the Atlantis submarine is located.

A great alternative is go to St. John either on a sail cruise, on a tour or independantly.
There is an underwater snorkel trail at Trunk Bay that is a lot of fun and some good reefs here as well. Other great beaches on St. John's are Cinnamon Bay and Hawks Nest Bay, both have some coral. If you go independantly you can get from one beach to another on little trucks with benches that go from one to the next. The ferry from Charlotte Amalie Harbor takes 45 minutes to get to St. Johns.

In San Juan I suggest sightseeing. El Morro Castle is a great site and walking around old San Juan is fun. The best Indian Restaurant I have ever tried is Tantra in Old San Juan - but it is on the expensive side for Indian.

Have a great trip.

We were just in the E.Caribbean in Jan on the Millennium. We found a beautiful beach on St. Thomas. We took a taxi to Sapphire Beach. It is a nice resort that welcomes cruise passengers. There is a $5. fee if you want a lounge chair. We walked down the beach and swam and layed in the sun on a big sarong. It was less crowded. They also rent snorkel equipment there. The water is very clear. There are lots of tropical fish swimming around. Here is a link with a panoramic photo of the beach... http://www.rwic.com/stock/sapphirebch1300.htm
