We want to go to Cable Beach when we stop in Nassau. Are there taxis that will take you to and from there? Is it a public beach? Are there public beach accesses? How far is it from the port? Anyone been there? Do the big resorts and Casinos welcome cruise passengers there?

We stayed in a hotel on Cable Beach a few years ago. It's a very nice beach, and there are so many hotels and resorts, they don't know who's coming and who's going, so it's really fine to spend the day there. I think it is public, but I'm not sure. There is no charge to go on the beach. They have jet skis, snorkeling equipment, aqua bikes, sea kayaks right there on the beach that you can use (some for a fee). We stayed in the Nassau Beach Hotel, which is right next to the big hotel with the casino (I can't remember the name of it right now..) But it has restaurants and a big casino inside. You can just walk right in and use their facilities and that's fine with them. We were in and out of there all the time.

We weren't there on a cruise, but I've read in several places that you can take a taxi and spend the day there. It's not too far from the port - I'm not sure exactly, though. You can actually see the cruise ships pulling into port from Cable Beach, so it can't be too far.

Both hotels have restaurants, pool bars and grills, bathrooms, etc.. that anybody can use. The Nassau Beach Hotel has a little ice cream/yogurt/deli shop inside that is nice for a little treat! Here's a funny thing to look for: there's a guy selling "fresh coconut pina coladas" there...he was there shouting "Let's get the parteeeee started...get your fresh coconut pina colodas...let's get loaded and loose now..." the whole time we were there, and then a friend of mine was there last year and he was still there, saying the same goofy lines!!! Funny.

We'll be going to Nassau on a cruise in February, so I think we might go back to Cable Beach again, or maybe to Paradise Island this time.

Mercy, We stayed at the Marriott Crystal Palace and Casino on Cable Beach a couple of years ago. The casino is quite large and is open to everyone. There are a few restaurants that are on the same floor as the casino that are also open to anybody. There is only a very small beach in front of this resort, but walk next door (either direction) and there is plenty of wide opened beach. Two weeks ago on our Century cruise, we docked in Nassau, and there were taxis everywhere to take you wherever you want to go, and I would said it's probably a ten minute taxi ride to Cable Beach from the dock.
