We weren't there on a cruise, but I've read in several places that you can take a taxi and spend the day there. It's not too far from the port - I'm not sure exactly, though. You can actually see the cruise ships pulling into port from Cable Beach, so it can't be too far.
Both hotels have restaurants, pool bars and grills, bathrooms, etc.. that anybody can use. The Nassau Beach Hotel has a little ice cream/yogurt/deli shop inside that is nice for a little treat! Here's a funny thing to look for: there's a guy selling "fresh coconut pina coladas" there...he was there shouting "Let's get the parteeeee started...get your fresh coconut pina colodas...let's get loaded and loose now..." the whole time we were there, and then a friend of mine was there last year and he was still there, saying the same goofy lines!!! Funny.
We'll be going to Nassau on a cruise in February, so I think we might go back to Cable Beach again, or maybe to Paradise Island this time.
