We will stop at New Orleans during our cruise in March. We will not have too much time there and wondered what is the best way to spend a few hours. We are thinking that we do not want to spend a fortune on tours but also do not want to miss out on anything truly memorable. The other ports are Grand Caymen and Cozumel (I think) We are looking at swimming with the dolfins $119 each and the stingray tour Not sure of the cost. Any ideas would be great, we wondered if New Orleans is the type of place where you can easily spend a few hours walking around and looking at the sights or would we get bored?

I'm not sure exactly how much time you will have there, but quick and cheap is walking around in Jackson Square - looking at the street vendors, stopping for coffee and beinets (sp?) at Cafe Du Monde (right there in the square close to the river), touring the Cathedral. A cheap "tour" you can take is just riding the trolley cars through the Garden District. You don't get a "spiel" or a tour guide, but you do get to see some pretty fantastic homes.

Make sure you try a praline or two for me...

Thanks folks for the info and the personal e-mail. I can't wait to go on this trip I haven't started our countdown yet, I'll wait until after Christmas. I certainly will have a praline for you Lizk and definitly a Hurricane or two for you Gizmo.
