We are going on our first cruise (RCCL), and our ports of call will be Nassau, Coco Cay, and Key West, FL.

Never having been to any of these places, I am hoping you could all recommend what my husband and I should be sure to see or do when we get to these destinations. Thanks so much for any tips!

Nan

Steamboat - in Key West if time permits, try to take the Conch Train tour of the island. It lasts 90 minutes and the tour guide/driver will point out all of the landmarks in Key West. When in Nassau, I would take a taxi over the bridge to Paradise Island to check out the Atlantis Resort. If you are interested in shopping for souvenirs, there is a large straw market very near where your ship will dock. Don't let the vendors intimidate you - they are very aggressive, but will come down in their stated prices quite a bit if you bargain with them. If you are interested in buying perfume, jewelry, crystal...go to Bay Street(about 2 blocks away from where your ship will be). The salespeople in those shops aren't going to bargain much with you, so know your prices for items you are interested in before you leave home to make sure you are getting a good deal (I found my perfume at home to be a lot cheaper than in Nassau). Have fun!!

We really enjoyed the semi submersible sub excursion in Nassau! The straw market, in Nassau IS very aggressive at times. I haggled with one guy for 30 minutes for two hand carved wooden war masks. I wore him down however and got my price. Just keep it friendly and fun I LOVED Key West! Neat town.You have to check out Sloppy Joe's tavern and the Key Lime shop.
~~~Happy Cruising~~~
Thanks for the suggestions! I've been reading a lot of good comments about that Atlantis Resort so I checked out their website, and WOW, it does look like a blast, doesn't it?!! I hear if you are not a guest, you can pay $25 pp to be able to go everywhere on the property? The Conch Train sounds like something we'd really like as well.
That sub excursion sounds like a lot of fun too. We also enjoy checking out a lot of different shops.
Thanks so much for your suggestions. I'm saving all the great info I'm getting here so we'll have it on hand and not miss anything. Thanks again for your help!
In Nassau we enjoyed the horse-drawn buggy ride. It took only about 15 minutes. Our driver told us everything he get said in that amount of time. It was a great running commentary. It was encouraging to hear the pride in his voice as he described his city, country, and customs. Obviously, we didn't get to know him well in only 15 minutes, but it was 15 minutes very well spent! It was quite inexpensive too, I think only $10.
