The underground rivers in the Xacret ecological park were very interesting. No fish but the underwater caverns, which can not be seen from above, were great.
Cabo San Lucas, at Lover's Beach, the water is deep and clear. We saw a great variety of fish.
In Aruba, there is a sunken ship which partially protrudes above the water. It would be a great place to snorkel if you are the only ship in port. If there is more than one, the site becomes too crowded with snorkelers from every ship plus divers. I got real tired of being kicked by other snorkelers but probably ended up doing some myself. It couldn't be helped with the crowd.
Curacao had about the clearest water I've ever seen. There is a small sunken tug boat that is teaming with fish. We saw one turtle there also.
In St. Thoams I preferred Coki Beach. There are lots of small fish that you can feed by hand. They'll keep you occupied for hours.
In St. John I went to Trunk Bay and found it to be a loser. The scenery was probably the best I've seen but the snorkeling was poor. Few fish and an underwater trail that is over billed and over crowded. What a waste.
The Bat Cave is billed as a big deal in Martinique and was OK. There were Sea Cucumbers, some small fish, and spiny seas urchins. The cave really isn't a cave, more of a rock depression and it is above ground. You can see the bats though.
In Key West the reef was large but not with the abundance of fish that I expected to see. There were large numbers of small barracuda and we also saw one small, about 4', nurse shark.
The reef in Ocho Rios, Jamaica was mostly dead and covered with hundreds of spiny seas urchins.
In Grand Cayman we snorkeled with the sting rays. I think I enjoyed that much more than I would have the one that takes you to a sand bar where you wade among them. I spent so much time with the sting rays that I never got to the reef. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back.
