We are stopping in Calica on our next cruise with our 12/16/20 year old children. Any suggestions on shore excursions and what is the best way to Cancun from Calica? What would a first time visitor to Cancun want to see?

Hi, We were in Cancun last week. We took a tour from our ship which was in port in Cozumel. Maybe your ship will offer a tour also. It was listed as Shopping in Cancun. The title says it all. There are many nice places to shop. We were to a couple of very nice malls, and found prices quite decent. They also have the typical Mexican market. The beach was lovely. You do not see the poverty that you do in other areas of Mexico.
The hotels are very attractive, and even though we are avid cruisers, we could see ourselves spending a week there.

We did the shore excursion on the Mercury to Cancun from Calica (Rock Quarry) last year. We had a very interesting "Mayan" driver. He told us the history of the Mayan people. We shopped, and then walked to the beach at a hotel and swam. Back on the bus. Most everyone on the bus took a siesta on the way back. I think it was a fun day. It was 100 degrees and humid that day, so anything with water sounded like the best bet! We heard a lot of people that went to Xcaret had a good time also.
