I'll bet you all thought I fell off the face of the Earth, huh?

I am so excited! We will FINALLY be taking another cruise after a very long dry-spell.

Will there be any other Cruise Talkers on board?

Thank you!

Things have been chaotic the past few years, but I think everything is finally settling down. I hope so, anyway... I am ready for some smooth sailing (pun intended!)!

Ruth, I do not think you will meet the Simpsons or the Golden Girls on board

It was great to meet you an Simpatico that day in NYC.

No Simpsons? No Golden Girls? Horrors!

Did I tell you that we met a real life Peter Griffin from Family Guy on one of our cruises? OMG! He didn't look like Peter Griffin, but talked and sounded just like him! We had lunch with their family a few times and were rolling on the floor laughing each time.

It was great to meet you, too! How many more Cruise Talkers have you met since then?

Oh, where to start.....

Thanks to Hurricane Igor, we ended up not going to Bermuda at all and we were diverted to Charleston, SC, Port Canaveral, FL, and Nassau.

Peter did his residency in Charleston, so we were probably the only ones happy to stop there. We enjoyed our limited time in the Holy City and are planning on going there for a week or so in the spring. We stayed onboard in Port Canaveral - we're not into the Disney thing, and just wanted to enjoy the peace & quiet on the ship. Nassau was ok - not somewhere that I would be in a hurry to get back to.

There was a large family occupying the 3 cabins across the hall from us. OMG! They were obnoxious! They were loud and constantly congregating in the hallway, and would leave their baby stroller in the hall when they were in their cabins. One of the kids kept screaming and the parents did nothing to stop him. After about 2 days of listening to that, Peter went to the front office and asked if there was something that could be done about it. We were moved to a different cabin a little later than day, and when the cabin steward arrived to help us, he saw what we had been dealing with. When we left the cabin with all of our stuff, the screaming kid was standing in the middle of the hallway and WOULD NOT MOVE! Finally, someone from their group pulled him aside so we could get by. After we got settled in the new cabin, we realized that we hadn't seen any of our other neighbors since the first night. I'll bet there was an office pool going on at the desk as to when we would finally crack! We later discovered that these people were the family of an office in the dining room. Nepotism much?

Other than all of that, we had a great time (as always) and HAL was good about correcting the bad cabin situation quickly! I did miss Dutch Night. HAL apparently did away with it since the last time we sailed....
