We are sailing in 8 days on the Grand with our 9 yr old. This is his second cruise, and he is excited. We typically cruise without him, but given care circumstances this year and our schedules, we are taking him with us. We actually put together a group of family and friends totalling 23 people aged 9 to 88. We will have our son, two girls @13 and one young man @16. This is seen by all with their kids as a great family time, and quality time as it is meant to be. Our kids are not rude or boisterous, but, they are kids. When he learned about FRS radios, he insisted that we buy them so he could keep in contact with us on the ship. We are all looking forward to a great vacation. Will post our results upon our return.

The high temperature today in Virginia will be about 25 degrees Farenheit. They say the wind chill makes it feel like it's below zero degrees. The streets are covered in ice and we're expecting another 4-7 inches of snow tomorrow night.

A cruise on the Grand Princess sure sounds good right now. I'm envious.

I hope you have a wonderful time! I do agree with you about the quality family time on a cruise. Can't wait to hear a report when you get back!

P.S. I'll save all the Canadian board members some time by readily acknowledging that we Southerners are definitely wimps when it comes to cold weather and snow/ice!

Before Grand my 8 year old son would beg day after day about another trip to Disneyland (already a yearly pilgrimage). After Grand he only begs about the "Fun Zone" to us and brags about it his friends. He has developed an intertest and love for cruising just like I did when I was 10.

We were on the Grand last Feb with our 5 year old. She had a fabulous time! The staff running the children's program were mostly all Child Dev. or Education majors doing their internships and really loved what they were doing. They have pagers available if the radios don't work. Have fun! We are leaving in 12 days on the VOTS with her.
