What do you like best as a cruise with kids?

On the QE2 last year it was nice to know that no matter where they were the couldn't be more than 800 feet away.

WJCdiver, we like being with our kids and we like to cruise. The best part is seeing the pure joy on our children's faces when they are having a wonderful time on board ship. They get so into the whole experience.

We just returned from our millennium cruise -- four families, 9 kids. Most of the kids except for ours were first timers. It was so much fun seeing those kids having a great time and getting totally hooked on the cruise experience.

We threw a bon voyage party for the group right after sailing and had the pre-printed invitations slid under the door of each of our companions' cabins. My favorite part was a few days later when two of the seven year olds in our group then decided they were having a party at the pool -- they drew up invitations, slid them under each cabin door and then were waiting at the pool at the designated time to greet their guests. They enlisted the bartenders help to serve the guests and had mom sign the check of course. It was very heartwarming.

I second that corrine. Glad your kids have such a good time. Our kids still email the friends they made and also some crew members on the Norweigan Crown.

We have taken our kids on one cruise with us and really enjoyed this as a family vacation. The kids ate what they wanted without the arguements of how much they could spend and then not liking what they ordered.(Typical of restaurant experiences with jr.teens)The kids really enjoyed the freedom to roam and enjoy the facilities and we enjoyed the security of knowing they were safe and having a great times. The only thing we don't like is the constant requests to go again!

I went on a number of cruises when I was growing up and remember all of them. I'm glad that I can now share that experience wiht my kids. Some of the things I like best about cruises are:
- days at sea when you just sit in the sun at the pool and look out at the horizon as your kids play with new friends in the pool

- the freedom you can give them to do things on their own - go get an ice cream, see a movie, have dinner with their friends at the buffet while you dine

- enjoy it when your daughter orders filet mignon dinner 7 nights in a row

- taking them to shows and nightclubs (at least until their bed time)
