I haven't been on a cruise for 20 years. I now have two small boys, ages 7 and 3. What are the most family-friendly cruise lines? I looked at Carnival's web site and some of your Carnival reviews, but I don't know if we're the party ship types. Are there other alternatives & what might we expect to pay??

Obviously, you could try the new Disney lines...I'm sure they cater to the kids...

But, honestly, there's nothing all that wrong with Carnival...They actually do quite a good job with kids...and tend to have a lot of families on board with a similar age demographic...

Some of their ships may be a little wild (I'd avoid some of the 3-Day routes), but I'd suggest you look into two:

The Elation, 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise out of Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo...

...and the Paradise, the new "No-Smoking" vessel out of Miami...

Both are newer, larger ships with plenty of activities on-board for the kids...

...and, especially, the Paradise, with it's No Smoking policy, will cater less to a wild crowd and more to families...

Another ship to look into is the new RCI Voyager (coming this Winter)...it's by far the largest ship out their and is my children's dream ship: It has an Ice Skating Rink, an in-line skating track, a 9 hole miniature golf course, a rock climbing wall, a basketball court and more...

The Carnival is the BEST family cruise ships out on the ocean (BESIDES DISNEY) if you want my opinion. The Carnival offers ""CAMP CARNIVAL"" which is great for kids, Kids have a blast because they have stuff to do for ALL AGES not just for toddlers, They have video games and just a little bit of everything. I highly recommend going on The Carnival. And if you want another bit of advice, if you are planning on going later this year, i would take The Carnival Triumph which will be a brand new 1999 model ship that weighs a WHOPPING 102,353 GRT ( gross registered tons )Like i say though, cruising the carnival with kids is a breeze because kids on there love it. I would either recommend The Carnival or Disney.

We sailed on RCCL Majesty of the Seas. They had a great kids program for all ages, toddlers to teens. I have a 15 yr old and she was thrilled with the teen program, especiallly the disco just for teans. RCCL knows how to keep the kids organized, having fun and out of the whirlpools on deck, giving the adults time to relax and enjoy.
