Before the Roman Spa was put in, I read somewhere there was a different room. Anyone have an idea what that room was and are there photos of that area with that room?

That was the 1st class pool.

Deb....the tourist class pool was aft with a glass roof overhead. The first class pool was on D deck. When the extended deck was added during her re-build as Norway, the aft pool was done away with as a pool. An "on deck" pool was added.

There are some clips on You tube of this movie, which looks rather silly! Is the France featured much? You can still buy the movie.

Are there any other SS Farnce movies?

The "gendarme" movies with Louis de Funès were very succesful in their day, and still I think.
A peculiar kind of french humour. A quarter of the movie is on the SS France. There is a kind of walk throughout the ship, like in Hyacyinths Bouquet jogging on the QE2, were all the gendarmes get lost and come in about all the main public rooms and corridors.

Another very good France film is "The brain" with David Niven and Jean-Paul Belmondo and Bourvil. A 'big heist" film with a splendid finale on the quayside besides the France. the end credits are with the arrival of SS France in NYC.

There is also a comic album by Tibet/AP Duchateau in the "Ric Hochet"/"Rik Ringers" series, "Gangsters on the France", which takes for 3/4 place on the France, there is even a cutaway of the ship in the album.

Belgian/French comics are not comparable with American comics, with a bigger degree of care and finish. the "Ric Hochet" series is about a journalist/detective, and essentially a detective story for teenage boys (of teh 1960s)
