This is his history as well and there might even be some things from the seller to discourage him from doing anything other than scrapping the Oceanic.
Is the owner the man who scrapped the SS Norway and the SS Maxim Gorkiy? It's too bad that Home Lines was not able to refit the Oceanic with diesel engines like they wanted. If they were able to do so, then there is no doubt that she would still be sailing. [ 05-27-2012: Message edited by: Donald Johnson ]

Hi Ernst It is rather interesting that Chinese cruising companies have recently bought both the 1972 built ex ' Spirit of London ' , which is now 40 years old, and also the ex 'Song of Norway' which is now 42 years old. It would seem that they consider the older diesel engine cruise ships a good buy ! .

Hi Neil, I wondered why the Chinese Cruising Companies never considered the Saga Rose. They might have been able to make her SOLAS compliant given that the labor cost was very low. The same could have been applied to the former Mona Lisa as well. [ 05-27-2012: Message edited by: Donald Johnson ]

Here is the following quote from Jonathan from The Liners List: quote:
Updates from Asia Hello Listers, A couple of news updates from Asia. The Oceanic has been reflagged in Tuvalu and will reportedly sail shortly for Zhoushan in China. I fear the breakers beckon Something appears to have gone wrong with the plan to use Louis's The Emerald as a hotel ship in South Korea. The company organizing the hotel ship project will instead be using the Ocean Emerald, a vessel built as the Nordic Prince and most recently operated by a short-lived Mexican cruise venture. Expocruise's website: www.expocruise.co.kr Lloyds Register still lists The Emerald as being laid-up. Jonathan
