If there are any scortch marks it's probably just from a welders torch. I noticed some around a companionway opening in one of the promenade photos
She sustained damage to her stern railing and plating.
Obviously our cruise was cancelled, pax flown home and we sailed to drydock in Seattle from where we had just sailed after a 2 week refit resuming service about a week later.
As a termporary measure (which lasted a year or so) the lounge windows were plated over making the lounge very dark.
I also remember her as Navarino - she had a great reputation during this time but went downhill under Regent looking quite tatty when I saw her in Skagway.
My grandparents sailed to Alaska in REGENT SEA in I guess around 1990. They loved their huge cabin and hated just about everything else. That was their first and last time with Regency....
I saw her again on a trip to Tampa when she was laid-up looking very weathered.
