The beautiful ms DALMACIJA is now en route for (probably) Gadani Beach to be scrapped.
After been sold at auction to Baltanas Shipping Limited for 770 000 UDS in september, she left on the 6 november her former home port of Rijeka with 5 croatian officers and the rest composed of pakistani crew.
Another Uljanik Brodogradiliste build, the SALAMIS GLORY will probably follow her fate soon.

Gadani Beach has been off-limits to passenger ships in recent years and has only scrapped a handful in its long existence, with very limited success. CANBERRA was an outright disaster. Alang is a picnic by comparison.

Very sorry to see this charming little Croat go. Soon, there will be no more "non-luxury" small ships like this left.

Hello!!!

Thats a shame !! IMO these older ships are much more interesting than any ALLURE OF THE SEAS!!!
The ship breakers are not feeling the economic pinch are they !!!

Dalmacija is a near sister ship to the Classic International Cruises ship Arion.

As far as is known all the Classic International Cruises ships are being updated to meet the new Solas 2010 requirements.

Hello,

The vessel was allowed to sail until 2013, with certain restriction. It's almost the same case for the M/V Doulos.

But she was in need for repairs and maintenance in the next few month, some overdue.

Aux. Oil-Fired Boiler 1 Internal
& External Survey 05 Jul 2009

And a lot of survey to do in 2010. So a little life expectancy, some work to do and a big need of cash to refill Adriatic Cruise's cash or liquidation.

I'm surprised by the choice of Gadani Beach. As reported by Peter, they are not specialized at all for such vessels and if you compare it to Alang, some plots are the Palm Beach at Alang now.

My news came one year or two after the sad (an litigious) beaching of the Canberra, things have maybe changed. And it was a real nightmare.....
