Today's Mail on Sunday carries a double-page centre-spread picture of the QE2 in Dubai. The caption describes the ship as looking "forlorn and neglected" although to my eyes she still looks in sparkling condition and, of course, with funnel still intact.

The acres of empty quayside and land reclamation in the background, do however, make the old girl look a bit lonely.

She looks pretty good from that angle. Granted it is'nt a close-up but labor is sooo cheap in Dubai, her owners could have her completely repainted for 1/10th the cost of the same job in the UK or the States.

As I said in another thread, I will give them $20 mill for her cash money right now, though frankly she would need to be gutted and a lot more balcony cabins added, she would become the next Stockholm.

That would be very dreadful to see the QE2 rebuilt into an ugly ship. I would rather see her back in the UK as a hotel ship, like the SS Rotterdam.

Besides, why not buy the MS Song Of Norway and make her into the Stockholm?
