I found a videoat at
Youtube about the new -back then- Royal Venture Cruise Line.

The ship they wanted to charter was the REGENT SUN. In the video she is mentioned as SEA VENTURE although SUN VENTURE is mentioned in most sources.
Anyway, the owner -Kyriakides- holds a brochure that he had issued.
Does anyone has a scan of this brochure to share? I am particularly interested to see what her funnel markings would be like.

The operation using REGENT SUN never materialized; apparently they could not get funding or something resolved. The ship sat in Tampa, and in 1998 was sold to Canyon Ranch Spa, who named her simply SUN, and some work was done on her but she never sailed again. Sold to Indian scrappers, she sank while under tow in the South Atlantic in July 2001.

Royal Venture Cruise Line did also try to use the Ukrainian ship GRUZIYA, named SUN VENTURE, in 1996, but this operation never worked out, either. Here is a scan of that brochure:

Thanks once more Rich!
Say, what is the sign on the funnel?

The SEA VENTURE seemed to be a most unlucky name for Kyriakides.

The first SEA VENTURE was actually owned by Lelakis, but I feel that it was intented for use by Kyriakides. After all the two of them were quite close. It was a containership intented to be convert into a cruiseship in 1986-88. The work did not start and the vessel was sold and became the COSTA MARINA.

The second SEA VENTURE he owned was the incomplete hull of a greek ferry that he intented to convert for cruising in 1987-1990. Although, the conversion was started it was never finished and the vessel was impounded.

The third SEA VENTURE would be the ex-REGENT SUN. Tough luck though...

He should think twice before renaming the ISLAND ADVENTURER into SEA VENTURE

Aris, the logo on the funnel was the same "RVCL" with crown, as seen on the brochure.

The name and logo were seemingly mimicing Royal Cruise Line. I remember the Sun sitting here in Tampa for quite some time. And of course she was also Regent Sun.

Brittanis sat in Tampa a long time also, and interestingly she also sank under tow similar to the Sun.

I've always thought Greek ships were recycled, rebuilt, renamed more than any other nationality. The seemed infamous at reinventing ships.

Only Argentina / Brazil, Veendam / Volendam, Monarch Star / Monarch Sun, Bermuda Star/ Queen of Bermuda and Liberte and all the various iterations in between seem to have them beat. But if I remember, Monarch Cruises was Greek?

You are right. Monarch was Greek for a couple of years. Then it was bought by Holland America Line and the second sister was brought during HAL management.

The only reason HAL bought out Monarch because they had Chartered the Veendam and Volendam which bacame Monarch Star and Monarch Sun the company ended up being a success and HAL bought them out!

What a shame. It sounded promising. What came next was horrific. Canyon Ranch spent millions gutting everything, extending the superstructure aft, then abandoning her. During my visit in Freeport years later, I went to the engine room. It was ossified in lime and rust. Her stairtowers had some amazing artwork, which had been buried under the Katzourakis carpeting installed when she was ROYAL ODYSSEY. It all went down with her, including a three deck Agam installation that was probably worth as much as the entire rest of the ship.

Thanks for sharing the video, Rich.
