1 Nassau - Bahamas
2 Emerald Seas
3 Leonardo da Vinci

I'm pretty sure about the last one.
Let's hope it's correct.

Patrick, I think you are correct on all three.

Can anyone guess the year? I would say 1978.

Well, not that hard for the true liner fans!! Ernest, Patrick and Ernie called it right. The shot was taken from the stern decks of Leonardo da Vinci in May of 1978.

Grant,
By any chance to you have any other photos from LDV you could share? She was the first ship I ever sailed and quite special to me.

Thanks!

Ernie-I only snuck aboard for a few hours, had lunch and a good look around so there are no others of the ship. I sailing on Oriana at the time. Here are a few rather poor shots taken from Oriana as we entered the harbour.

These were of the LDV during her short-lived time under the Italian Line Cruises International banner. As we all know, three years or so later she burned at La Spezia during lay-up. He "dead on" side view was enough to take your breath away. I took a shot of her from the stern of Rotterdam V while we waited to sail from Pier 40 in NYC. She was bound for Italy and we were bound for Rotterdam.

Great images of a stunning ship. LDV was my second (or third) farvorite Italia ships after Andrea Doria and Cristoforo Colombo.

LDV had the best looking looking tiered lido decks of all three ships but I preferred her original livery. Amazing how petite a 33,000 tonner looks now that we are use to the giants of today.

What happened? The photos changed. Could you switch them back to LDV .... not that I don't like FESTIVALE, GALILEO, and REGENT SUN too!

I've sailed on the first two, and visited the 3rd as DORIC. None compare to LDV!

Regent Sun was the 1st cruise ship I saw w/an exposed bulbous bow. The single QE2 style funnel was a great improvement over her original twin uptakes.

Sorry!! I'm still trying to figure all this out, and have no idea how the original 3 shots disappeared. I'll try and post them again.

If you are interested in some photos that I have taken over the years, there are 3 almums in the Photo Gallery now.

There are two in the Classic cruise ship gallery #3 and one in the Ocean Liner gallery #5. They are found in the alphabetical listing as "Grant's pics" Hope you like them!!
