I read on another site that Imperial Majesty's Regal Empress is resuming service from Ft. Lauderdale next month. I assume the lucrative government charter did'nt work out as planned. I wonder if this is a rumor or fact and how long will she operate.

I doubt REGAL EMPRESS will enter service again. Most likely, Imperial Majesty will resume service with their new ship, BAHAMAS CELEBRATION (??).

BAHAMAS CELEBRATION (ex PRINSESSE RAGNHILD) is still laid up at Sandefjord, Norway. I don't know whether any work has been done on her, but assume not.

Even if REGAL EMPRESS does come back for a brief spell, I just wonder whether NORWEGIAN DREAM, currently anchored off Freeport and unemployed (not unemployable!), might just be chartered until BAHAMAS CELEBRATION is ready. She may have a larger capacity of 1,700 as opposed to BC's planned 1,300, but in these troubled times, more people may want to take short cruises than longer and more expensive ones.

Tony,

"Bahamas Celebration" left Sandefjord several weeks ago and was reported to have reached Freeport.

Best,

Thanks Raoul

AIS still has her shown as PRINSESSE RAGNHILD in Sandefjord and as BAHAMAS CELEBRATION in Freeport! Must be unique in being in two places at the same time!

Either way, she is not at the Grand Bahama Shipyard but at a normal berth and would be interested to know how much work has actually been carried out.

On www.shipparade.com, at the Marco Polo photo page, you can seen the stern of BAHAMAS CELEBRATION, berthed near the MARCO POLO at Ponta Delgada, Azores, on October, 8th.

I did read somewhere that Imperial Majesty has a whole new itinerary planned...quite different from the norm...And its kinda like running to Nassau and Freeport and even I believe 2-3 night trips. I will post it when I find it. Im not sure which ship will be doing this but Im assuming it will be one and the other one will do the overnight to Freeport.

I hope she comes back. I would really like to try her before she goes out of service for good. I wanted to sail her this year but then Ike happened.

Last call for REGAL EMPRESS!!! Sail in her now or forever hold your peace. To those who will say, "If only I had a chance to do the REGAL E.", you have been given yet another window of opportunity. No other cruise line will be able to operate her beyond 2010. The ship is still in excellent condition. A lot of care was taken to make sure no damage occurred in Texas and the crew have been primping and polishing her while they anxiously await her return. Peter, back from a very crazy but wonderful ten days in Florida/Bahamas...
