On Portugal, in the city of Viana do Castelo ( North of Portugal) , hometown of many Portuguese seafarer's that sailed on the Newfoundland and Greenland on the cod fish trade ( Portugal is the biggest consumer of cod fish in the world, and it's our main speciality/food) , they have kept the former fisheries hospital/church /support/ supply / mail / ice-breaker, ship N/M GIL EANES, as a museum from the old times of the great Portuguese fisheries venture.
The ship is presently a museum, hostel, conference center, and it's kept by a foundation and the city itself as their biggest symbol of a nostalgic era.
