When QE2 leaves the fleet...can anyone speculate what items will be removed before she is transferred to the new owners?

Perhaps the link ups with QV and QM2 in ports around the world is a cover for a transfer of the Cunard memorabilia onboard

Seriously, I'm sure the major Cunard historical pieces such as portraits and artefacts from other Cunard ships will find their way onto QM2 and QV - Cunard may have sold QE2 but I'm sure they have held onto the onboard 'valuables'. Talk is of restoring QE2 to her original interior design which would not have included much Cunard historic memorabilia. I would think that original pieces such as the famous tapestries and the bust of QEII would remain with the ship.

Maybe the other two Queens will get some of the QE2's memorabilia?

The Queen Victoria will have her 'Cunardia' feature and the Queen Mary 2 has her 'Maritime Quest' feature.

I'm wondering about the Princess Grill with those sculptures, the Aquitania's bell in the Wardroom, all the wonderful paintings of the original Queen Mary and her interiors. The original QM's piano in the midship lobby or was it moved to the chart room? The Queen's "standard" I forget what it's called.

I for one am interested in bringing my wife on a trans-Atlantic crossing on QE2 before she is retired, maybe a round-trip oneway on QE2 the other on QM2.

Hello, it's been alwhile. Like many of I was suprised to hear about the sale of the QE2, and likewise, I do wonder what will become of many of the Cunard treasures on board. Most like to go to the QM2 and the new "phony" queen , the boxship Victoria. Being from the town the country the gave the world the Lusitiania, Aquatiania, Caronia, and of course the Original Mary and Elizabeth, I hold hopes that Scotland's last Liner is well taken care of in her retirement. The one thing that bothers me however is how well a ship that plied her trade in somewhat cooler climates, will hold up in Dubai (thinking of stories of the sad last days of the Raffeallo and Michelanglo) as a hotel and attraction. The days to come will be interesting none the less.

The 1840 Boston Commemorative cup presented to Samual Cunard is still onboard.

I would guess that nearly all the momentos and historic artifacts will be removed before the ship is handed over to Dubai. The famed tapestries and bust of QEII may stay as they are 'part' of the ship but who knows for sure.

Yes that is correct , i always remember our tour guide at the time stating there should be lid for the top.The lid has been missing for decades , and just think someone may have it stashed away as junk and will never know the true value

I believe the Boston Cup was passed to QM2 when she became the flagship of the fleet

Yes, it's located at "Images", the port-side photo gallery on Deck 3L.

I heard nothing can be transferred over due to SOLAS which is why the Queen Mary piano isn't on QM2. Be interesting to see if they do move anything though.

I was aboard QM2 in Trondheim on Wednesday. The Boston Cup has been moved from its Deck 3L location, though the Cruise Hostess I talked to apparently wasn't sure where it is now - still on board though.

Now there is a rather big QM2 model located where the Boston Cup used to be.
