Hello, I'm attempting to restore a wooden model of the Bergensfjord. The model is probably from the fifties, likely a travel agents display and was bought in a disasterous state (I'm retired and the kids thought I needed a project). I have quite a keen interest in liners (lived in Southampton many years ago). To get to the point---I'm looking for pics of the open deck areas (i.e. what was on the decks, davit info, lifeboats, ladders, machinery, booms, etc.
I have pics of the model before I started restoration and will take more as I progress but I don't know how to add them to this posting!!
I also have a deck plan but it dosn't help much.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you're ever in Vancouver - there is agreat model of Bergensfjord at Hagen's Travel on King Edward...everytime I go in I wish I could have it for my mantle.

Maybe contact them - they might send you soe pics of it - it's in good shape apart from a few cock-eyed lifeboats.

The first 2 photos are of her in her NAL colors as Bergensfjord before she was sold. She was a wonderful ship and I loved sailing on her.

I hope your project goes well. You'll have a wonderful model when you're done. I only have a small model of her on my desk and I treasure that for all the memories it brings back.

Have you looked at this site for other photos of her? www.simplon.co.uk and I'm sure if you google her name many things will come up.

Good luck with the project...I'd love to be doing it!

Cheers, Penny

Thank you all for your replys, I will follow up on suggestions, etc.
I'm having trouble finding suitable handrailing for the model----any of you into modelling?
I will try to post a picture of the finished job but it will be a few months yet.

You can buy railing for certain scales - but it is not the optimum. If you are picky, you have to do it on your own. (...which is a lot of work....)
