The photo is seen the Bonito pool and Bonito club. It was taken in the late 80s.

Mec1,

Do you remember the social hostess Joy?

She was on the Canberra with me in 1973 and on the LoveBoat Pacific Princess in 2002.

I assume mec1 talking on January 23, 1981 however Canberra was scheduled to pass through Panama Canal on that day.

Look at the time of the January 23, 2005 post. It was made at 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. That was 12:30 AM on January 24, 2005 in the UK where Mec1 lives. Perhaps his birthday is January 24 rather than January 23 as you have obviously assumed. Perhaps he deliberately waited until after midnight to make his "it's my birthday post" before going to bed.

Analysing further, assuming Mec1 turned 49 in 2005, as the other post you quote appears to suggest, then you should also investigate where Canberra was scheduled to be on January 24, 1981? Acapulco, perhaps?

If you insist on over-analysing everything, as you are so wont to do, try looking at all the possibilities before questioning the word of someone who was there.

Brian

Brian

Note: The scan of the schedule was NOT in your post when I checked 30 seconds before I actually posted my post. It appears that Canberra was not in Acapulco on January 24, 1981 but it does not change the gist on my post. You simply do not respect other people's posts and it is damn annoying.

[ 06-29-2005: Message edited by: Brian_O ]

If mec1 posted on January 24th 1981, Canberra was scheduled to depart from Panama Canal on January 23rd 1981.
She was scheduled to arrive at Acapulco on January 26th 1981.

P.S. I have posted the thread with scan.
I edited in my earlier post on 28th only.

You are correct. I have discovered the cause of appearing and disappearing scans in your post of 10:04 pm on June 28. It was a conflict between the pppOe software used by my ISP and an updated version of my firewall/privacy software that was installed a couple of days ago. The image links were not always being passed through to my browsers so the scans were only visible sometimes. I found that the same thing was happening on other posts as well.

I apologise for the unkind remarks.

Brian

OMG! Ocean Liners, I remember that room. I was a little kid. Friends of my family were on board. It escapes me as to where they were going, but I distinctly remember being on board. She was in New York at the time, so we went to see them off, and we were all sitting in, apparently, the Pacific Restaurant. It amazes me to see a picture like this, that brings back a vague childhood memory. Wow! Thanks for the pic.

I agree, out of all of my many cruises, for me, sailing CANBERRA in 1984 was quite special. I was in a cheap outside cabin with no private facilities (the only time thus as a passenger, not crew) yet the entire experience with the people on board and to sail such classic has been burned in my mind as extraordinary.

This is while I feel that P.& O. should not re-name just any cookie-cutter ship CANBERRA, but rather, she should be a one-off, like QUEEN MARY 2.

A modified Aurora with twin uptakes would be fine by me.

Canberra had Baggage Conveyrors and Vertiveyors for luggages and Carron Transporters for Cars.
