and this one of the afternoon tea display...
there was one feature of this ship i remember that stood out as being pretty good... it was the bar and restaurant located on the deck below the swimming pool. the feature windows behind the bar/in the dinning room looked straight into the water. This was quite a nice effect at night with the lights on and during the day you could sometimes see the kids diving down and waving in the window.
ENCHANTED ReplacementApril 2: The 1975-built, 16,631 gt ENCHANTED CAPRI (ex AZERBAYDZHAN) is reportedly chartered to Metropolis Tur, a Russian cruise operator, as a replacement for the OLVIA. which is headed to Asia as the casino ship CT NEPTUNE. The Ukrainian owners (part of the old Black Sea Steamship Company) refurbished the vessel in Freeport to bring her up to the latest SOLAS standards. The gambling areas have been replaced by a dining room. The ship will sail in June on cruises from Sochi and continue around Western Europe to St. Petersburg, her homeport for the summer season, for mainly Russian and Ukrainian passengers.
the deal has sadly fallen through. "Enchanted Capri" won't be sailing for Metropolis Tur - at least this year.
Her replacement with Metropolis is the former Deilmann ship "Berlin", which will temporarily be renamed "Orange Melody" before eventually the joining Saga Holidays fleet.
Best,
Raoul

Alexandr Pushkin did sail five summer cruises out of Montreal in 1975.Cruise 1 sceduled to visit Gaspe, Bermuda, Havana, Nassau and Sydney(Nova Scotia).
I assure that Alexandr Pushkin did only Trans Atlantic sailings out of Montreal in 1978.

But the Pushkin didn't call at Montreal at all in 1979. That is was displeased the Pushkin fans.

I thought that Baltic Sea's Transatlantic Service discontined in 1981.
Did Alexandr Pushkin terminate at New York in 1979?

I think none of the "Belorussiya"-class ships still have the original car deck. However, all still have the aft car deck ramps and a small aft section of the car deck, which are now used to load supplies. Quite a convenient way to do so.

The Kazakhstan operated cruises out of Montreal during the summer of 1979.
I think that Kazakhstan cruised out of Montreal between June 16th and September 7th 1978.She was scheduled to sail from Montreal to Tilbury on September 8th 1978.

I don't think those cruises or the September 8 crossing from Montreal ever took place. While March Shipping (the Montreal agents for the Soviet shipping companies) did advertise the cruises in the Spring of 1978, the ads were abruptly withdrawn after about 4 weeks.

As far as I knew, March Shipping did advertise Kazakhstan and Odessa's 7-day or 14-day Balalaika Cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central nd South America from New Orleans December 24 through May 27, 1978.
Then Kazakhstan to cruise 9-day Cruises to Montreal from New York on June 6th 1978.
What the 1978 Spring Cruises were?

It was effectively discontinued in 1980. The 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan led to a US-led boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Both Pushkin's and Lermontov's 1980 schedules were built around the Olympics and they were hoping to carry North Americans to Leningrad to attend the Olympics and then getting them home afterwards. With neither the US or Canada participating in the Olympics, there weren't enough bookings and Pushkin's entire transatlantic schedule was cancelled. I believe Lermontov's schedule was cancelled as well.
I don't know what Pushkin did in 1979. While she was originally scheduled to call at Montreal twice my recollection is that both calls were cancelled.

That's what was originally published but I believe that the whole of Kazakstan's 1978 Montreal season was cancelled. The following year (1979) when Kazakhstan did arrive in Montreal a representative of March Shipping referred to it in a TV interview as her maiden call and talked about the trouble they had had in their previous attempts to get the Soviets to base her in Montreal for the summer. Apparently the Soviets were notorious for changing their minds and cancelling agreements, sometimes at very short notice (in all areas, not just hockey and politics ).
