For many of us of the end of the FRANCE/NORWAY so very sad. I am sad. In a way it's like losing a big brother. Someone who you could alway's could refer to. She was just so grand, to me the thought of her being scrapped was unthinkable. I thought that after all the classic old liners of the past were gone that maybe things would be different. She was just so beautiful. Well that's not the case. Today she's now too old and does not fit into the industry's future plans. Today the cruise industry is all about comps from quarter to quarter and year over year. It's all about making a little extra profit at the expense of the quality of the product. It is my belief that future generations will judge this action and question the soundness of the indusry's leaders. How could they destroy such a beautiful ship when all they kept putting out were "floating Clorox bottles". Couldn't they save her?
Going forward we must remember the good times. In doing so I have posted some old FRANCE photos to share. They were taken in April 1974 on a 2 week Easter cruise out of Boston. They can be viewed in the gallery under Voyages Past - images of life onboard ships of yeaterday. Hope you enjoy them. (I've included the link below)
