Greetings Cruise Talkers:

Does anyone know where correspondence can be sent to Stephen Card? I m interested in seeing if he has a print for an old painting he did for a company I used to work for. I can;t find anything on the web. I know he used to live in Bermuda, but don;t think he is there any longer. Thanks in advance

HAPPY NEW YEAR STEPEHN

I have the print you did of the Rotterdam V hanging in my den and just love it. Wish HAL would sell more of your prints on their ships.

Thanks again for all your kind greetings!

Best wishes to everyone for a Happy New Year!

Can I make a small bit of advertising here? :-)

Carmania Press (London) have just published a book of my paintings. It was 'launched' on board QE2 during her pre Christmas transatlantic crossing.
It is available through Mainmast Books in the UK.

The title is "CUNARDER' Maritime Paintings by Stephen Card MNI.
Hardback 176 pages. Landscape format: 12" x 10"
It contains the 30 paintings especilly painted for the Queen Mary2 , plus 12 images which they 'borrowed' from the QE2. Each painting is accompanied by a text outlining the history of the ship illustrated. Foreword by Stephen Payne OBE and Introduction by Commodore Warwick.
All paintings in full colour. Printed on heavy archival paper with anti-tear dustjacket showing the Mauretania and Laurentic cruising in the Med c. 1934.
In addition to the paintings Maurizio Eliseo has written a splendid 12 page section on building the Queen Mary 2, illustrated with several of his own photographs. Maurizio also contributed a superb two page width coloured elevation of the QM2. One chapter, Milestones & Statistics contains all the important dates in her 'history' and her official 'statistics'.

For the future.... hopefully by the end of this year, I will have another book ready for the press. This one will be titled HOLLAND AMERICA LINE - "The Spotless Fleet' and will feature roughly 80 of my HAL paintings.... the entire collection painted for HAL over the past 14 years plus a few extras from private collections. It will also include the work currently on the easel for the new NOORDAM.

It is almost impossible to have large prints made of so many paintings. Hopefully this new book will satisfy those of you who love the HAL ships.

2005 is going to be a busy year!

Stephen

Incidentally, Carmania has also just released a book by Bill Miller and Maurizio on the Golden Age of Passenger Ships. Hardback, large format. First printing, in Italian, is available. English text version due out soo. The quality of this book is outstanding!
Don't miss it!

Best regards to you and Ank.

Greetings from Madeira Mr.Stephen,

I would like to tell you, as a ship enthusiast I am, that your work is simply a dream and a tribute to all ships of the world.

Recently I acquired the postcards collection that you made for Saga Shipping, and I can only say that it is divine.

I wish and I hope you could do for the future paintings from memorable ships like Greek Line LAKONIA, Ivan Franko class, Bianca C, Empress of Canada (green CP livery)etc...the real liners as you certainly know...

I wish you a Happy 2005, and please continue with your magnificent work.

Thank you,

Dimas Almada

Let me also add my enthusiasm at hearing of these two books. I have admired you paintings on a number of HAL ships [Rotterdam V, Zuiderdam, Zaandam, last Westerdam, Veendam, Ryndam, Noordam], and have a framed Rotterdam V print in my office - it reminds me daily that my next cruise cannot be far away!

My desktop wallpaper is a Stephen Card painting of Berengaria crashing through a beautifully rough N. Atlantic ocean (one of several I rotate). His paintings are fantastic and I especially like the ones where other ships/liners or landmarks are also featured. The new Carmania Press book is on my New Year's purchase list!
