Ah, the Stella Maris.

It tied up at our back door, back in the '70s when we lived in Southwest Washington. At 15-foot draft it was no problem. A cute and pudgy little ship, those who sailed on her had a good time, it was reported.

I have some photos somewhere.

I am surprised the STELLA MARIS docked in Washington! Cambodge, what city in SW Washington did you lived in?

The luxembourgish owners have great difficulties to get rid of this ship. The vessel is old and out of time. The last chance to sell her was only few months ago when she was supposed to be sold to South Africa. Finally this deal fell through and the vessel remains laid up in Eemshaven.
The city of Bremerhaven could aquire her for the Schiffahrtsmuseum. When named BREMERHAVEN, she made her turns out of this city. But nobody knows yet if this could be realized.
I went through the vessel last together with capt. Andreas Lüdecke. I'm sure it can be a funny time to cruise onboard her but she really is too old. She certainly could not cruise after 2009 !

Forgive my parochialism. In the east, "Washington," generally means Washington, DC. Elswhere, as I well knew, it should be modified as "Washington, State", or "State of Washington."

We lived in the SW Quadrant of Washington, DC. Ships drawing 15' or less, including "Eagle" and other tall ships, tied up at the municipal (Police and Fireboat) pier on the Washington Channel.
