Does anyone know whether the QM2 is leading the way across the North Atlantic towards Southampton in their April 25, 2004 tandem crossing, or whether it is the QE2 in the lead? I believe the QM2 departed New York before the QE2?

And, if it is the QE2 in the lead, will there be a switch mid-crossing with the QM2 leading the QE2 into port at Southampton as Cunard's new transatlantic standard bearer?

Also, wondering whether they will stay in sight of each other as they cross?

It appears from photos posted on Samuel Warwick's QM2 site, that QM2 and QE2 are sailing side by side (with a safe distance between them) rather than one leading the other.

Sorry , I was wrong , Caronia will sail to Guernsey on May 1 , on May 2 she 'll be on the Atlantic for the entire day with me onboard , could be that we see QE2 and QM2 between leaving Southampton on April 30 and Arriving in Guernsey on May 1 , somewhere during the night or the early morning.

My contact onboard QM2 says that QE2 is one nautical mile away from QM2...and that QM2 is doing about 28 knots.

Jochen,
if you are lucky,
Caronia may cut through the Needles.
With good speed, she could reach Torquay just before dusk and catch the Queens....
Torquay is like Guernsey, a favorite English Riviera type where many passengers live.
It would be good propaganda to arrange a Rendez-vous there.....
I wonder if Plymouth webcam could catch the Queens?
Now I think if I were on Pride of Cherbourg leaving Portsmouth at Midnight, there could be a chance to see the liners off StCatherine....
Another ship to try is the Pride of Bilbao to Cherbourg on a party night, due to dock Cherbourg at 9am.
She must be cruising very slowly and will intercept the Queens...mmmh?
