We're all aware that today is the first time in 64 years that two Cunard Queens have been docked together in New York. Does anyone know when the last time was that two Cunard Queens were docked together in Southampton? Or will May 1, 2004 be the first time?

I thought there was a post-war photo of QE1 and QM1 docked at New York on this site a few months back. I believe the photo showed QM either sailing or arriving. Maybe it was not an indended meeting as one ship might have been delayed enroute. Anyone recall the photo??

According to Cunard 1940 was the only time both QM and QE were docked in New York together. During their commercial service, their schedules were such that while one Queen was in New York, the other would normally be in Southampton.

There is a picture of the two Queens in NYC in the photo gallery-cruise potpourri section of this site. The photo does show QE1 docked and QM1 either sailing or arriving.

Queen Elizabeth and Mary were docked in Southampton together during a strike in the 1950's I believe.

My Grandad saw them.

The Queens were docked together in both NYC and Southampton in 1948 because of strikes. I have seen the pic of them in NYC on the net and in the new QM2 book. I have also seen the one of them in Southampton in Miller, Picture History of the Cunard Line. This will be the first time two queens have ever sailed accross the Atlantic together instead of passing each other.

Can you be more specific? Or provide a link? Cunard claims otherwise, but it wouldn't be the first example of revisionist history on their part.

That's right Joe, that was one of mine, I forgot it was here. Here are two more of them together. Once in Southampton just after the war, and another time in NYC Harbor.

Funny, but I wonder if the 1966 strike in Southampton allowed the Queens to meet again??

Hello folks...

Well I imagine that the last time both Queens were
in Soton would have been the 1966 Seamens Strike.
They _were_ both there when the Caronia docked,
which was several weeks into the strike.
