I have to meet my cruising partner at the NY Passenger Terminal for the 10 May QM2 sailing. We have never been in this terminal before. Any suggestions on how we can meet up with each other in the midst of 2600 people arriving? Are there any "landmarks" inside -- Like a clock tower, or Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Stnad -- where we can meet each other? Any and all suggestion welcome.

I suggest you meet outside. There are a number of benches outside the entrance where the taxis drop everyone off. Once you get inside things are crazy. It's just a big warehouse-like building.

Thanks, Joe. I guess I'll tell my friend to meet me where the taxis drop us off. I'll be "the man smoking two cigars."

RuthPerk and I are hoping to meet Desirod at the Terminal - hope we find him or he finds us. Just another couple of weeks, eh, Ruth!

Desi isn't sailing with us, unfortunately, but will be there to see us off.

Make you sure you specify which level of the teminal to meet at. If you have bags (which I assume you do), you should ask the cabbie (and your friend) to go to the lower level because that's where the baggage handlers for embarking passengers are located. From there you can take an escaltor to the upper level where you check in and board the ship.

The 50th street entrance is the easiest for a pedestrian.

When the QM2 was there, security was on yellow alert and let nobody inside w/o a boarding pass.

Normally, even post 9-11 have I ever had a problem getting into the terminal or the top parking deck.

Best to keep cell phones on and charged.
