It's a bit hazy right now but QM2 has arrived in NY. Picture from the Empire State Web Cam on our Port Information Page.

Keep snapping pictures over the next few days.

Good Morning,

The Queen Mary 2 is beautiful!

I was at Liberty State Park and watched her sail in. This was a wonderful experience. I can not wait to see how my pictures come out.

Which, by the way for those keeping score, is likely the Maxim Gorkiy. I had heard she was expected in as well.

What an experience to watch QM2 come up the river this morning. The scene was almost surreal, what with the fog banks and misty sunrise. I'll have a few shots to post later. She is an awesome sight.

Yes. Maxim Gorky arrived on Wednesday from Wilmington NC and stayed overnight at Berth 1. She was scheduled to sail for Boston at 6 PM Thursday.

QM2 is scheduled to stay overnight in New York and then depart at 11:30 AM Friday on an overnight cruise to nowhere for the media and other invited guests. She will return Saturday morning and will remain in New York at Berth 5 until Sunday's tandem departure with QE2.

On Sunday, QM2 will depart from the PST at 7:15 PM and QE2 will depart 15 minutes later. Both ships will stop near Liberty Island for a fireworks display scheduled for 8:30 PM.

While in NY on Sunday QE2 will dock at Berth 3.

Brian

QM2 looks so odd from some angles... I really do like QM2 but the angle from the empire state building is not at all flattering.

QE2 is the prettier sister

Hey Joe, is there a Carnival ship in right now? Based on what you have above, QM2 should be out, but I'm seeing something down there in port that looks similar, but not quite right (I'm 8 miles north on the Jersey cliffs).

I don't seem to be able to get a picture out of the ESB webcam, maybe because of the company internet police.

That straight-on shot is the same angle I first saw QM2 when I was flying into Ft. Layuderdale. Boy does she look massive docked there!

I wonder...are they not allowing people to park on the lot on top of the pier? Doesn't look like it...probably for security reasons.

It would really be a great site to see both QM2 and QE2 docked side-by-side at those piers, but from what I'm hearing QE2 will dock somewhere else???

Seatrade:

In conjunction with the maiden arrival of the Queen Mary 2 in New York, several executives of Carnival Corp. & plc, along with Captain Paul Wright, master of the ocean liner, rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday.
On hand for the closing bell ceremony were Carnival chairman and ceo Micky Arison, vice chairman and coo Howard Frank, evp and cfo Gerry Cahill and P&O Princess ceo Peter Ratcliffe. Representing the New York Stock Exchange were ceo John Thain and president and co-coo Robert Britz.
-----------

Whas Paul Wright, or mr. Warwick the Captain during this crossing? I know Warwick was onboard, but was he in function or did he travel with his family as a passenger?

Alan, nice shot of QM2 and Maxim Gorkiy.

Here are a couple of web cam shots I took yesterday, a panorama of QM2, Maxim and Concorde. Nice to compare the three for size. The other shots are from the Intrepid cam (if it wasn’t for perspective QM2 would be as large as Maxim Gorkiy)

In regards to Chris Cunard's posting, I agree that QM2 looks a little odd from certain angles. The Empire State webcam seems to make all ships a little stubby-maybe it is just the angles. To me the QM2 looks best when viewed directly from the side or a 3/4 front view. Her stern being squared off at the water line (because of the pods) looks a little bulky compared to her upper stern portion which has a nice radius. The 3/4 stern photo (taken from the air) of her sailing down the Hudson shows off her stern to it's best advantage, with the tiered veranda decks looking lovely-not bad for a 151,000 ton ship!
