I recall that Cunard’s invited any passengers that had been original Queen Mary’s inaugural to travel free on the QM2’s . Well how many turned up, I wonder?

Anyone know?

Unfortunately there were none. But there were a few who had sailed on the Queen Mary during her time. And they had a little social gathering in the Queens Room.

Gosh, none at all. I am surprised at that. Even though anyone old enough to have actually remembered the QM inaugural sailing must now be in their 80s/90s I would have thought someone would have taken up the offer.
Anyone know how many are still alive? Mainly those that were young children maybe, but must be a few who would have been late teens?

I would have though that a few Queen Mary baby passengers would have taken up the free cruise offer?

Maybe Cunard demanded proof that was not easily available?

I wonder if those who sailed on the maiden voyage of the QM2 will get a free cruise on the maiden vpyage of the QV?

The inaugral cruise on the QM2 was overbooked. So i couldnt see Cunard giving away the inaugral cruise, maybe a later cruise was offered instead.

The person who would know if anyone took up a later offer, Is Maureen the social host on the QM2. So if any is sailing on the QM2 in the near future they could ask her. (She has worked on the QE2 from its inaugral, until the QM2)
I will try to find out from friends onboard (If any stay on after Southampton, As I dont know of anyone returning).
