Did only the Spirit of London as a P&O ship carry this 70’s logo on the funnel?
Thanks for the help.

Yes she did, at least during her launching, see this thread here.
I have another b&w photo taken sometime after the launching (before 1974 of course) in one of my book where the logo is a bit more visible.

So as it seems P&O did use that logo on some other ships as well.

Just curious, Did you see Spirit of London's photo Prior to your first post.
I thought That meant Cruise ships or Liners.

I know the P&O cargo/container/bulkers all had a similar logo on the merger in 1971, but with a lightish blue funnel and white lettering. I was trying to find a decent pic of that online.. but can't either! The nearest I got was the lettering format but so small..The later cargo ships, were back to darker blue with normal lettering and the ampersand of which I can find many photos.. just not what one wants.

I also refered to more visible B/W photo in the book : The Cruise Ships [The Photo courtesy by P&O and seemed both photos were taken at the same time] and refered to more books.

So In a way P&O was searching with the Spirit of London for a separate cruise identity and when they acquired Princess cruises in 1974 (though briefly exploring the yellow livery with above logo on Pacific) decided that the Princess image was the one for their cruise market.

I thought that the other ship was supposed to be named the "Spirit of Southampton"?

Spirit of London originally ordered by the Norwegian Kloster Rederi, from whom P&O took over the contract in 1971. Norwegian Caribbean Lines ordered Two ships, to be built at CN del Tirreno & Riuntiti, which were Southward and Spirit of London. Southward was built at Yard no.288 and completed in Dec. 1971 beside Spirit of London was built at yard no. R290 and delivered in Sep. 1972.
P&O intended to accuire two more cruise ships: Island Venture and Sea Venture.
